Audio recording your review videos?

    Hey Ninjas,

I’m getting ready to dive into the world of the CPA exam with a wife, a 2 year old, and a 1 month old (yep, I’m out of my mind), so squeezing as much study in as possible when I’m on my way to work and at work is essential. Has anyone here made audio recordings of their videos and used those with any success? I know it will not be as helpful as watching the video or buying specific audio notes (which I would love), but with the reasons outlined above, money’s just not lying around to be spent. Do you think it would be helpful at all, or just confusing? I’m using Yaegar study at home if that helps anyone with formulating opinions. Any help/advice/encouragement/psychiatrist recommendations are all greatly appreciated!

Welcome! I am not an avid lecture watcher as mine have since expired from purchase. But I would advise for NINJA audio. Sometimes Jeff has a buy one get one free month. Keep an eye out for those since you are on a budget. I admire your determination. Wish you all the best, with your attitude you can do this!

I wouldn't recommend listening to an “audio” version of your lectures…you'll pull your hair out.

    BEC - 80

Thanks guys! That's what I was expecting, but needed to hear anyway. I guess I know what will be on the top of my birthday gift wishlist this year.

I definitely would not recommend listening to an audio recording of the Yaeger lectures. They are more of a teaching course and much of the lectures are spent working problems from the book and reviewing text from the book. Yaeger is a great course but their video lecture would not serve you well as strictly an audio. If you can't afford the ninja audio here (which is very helpful and puts the important need to know info into about 2.5-5 hours worth of audio) then I would suggest getting the Ninja Notes as a supplement and you could record them yourself to listen to in the car.

@tarheeljosh I would say that anything you can record and listen to over and over is a plus. I am studying for FAR with Becker and recorded the entire Final Review course. The lectures are much shorter and it makes listening to them much easier.

If you are considering using an audio program as a supplement, I would highly recommend the NINJA audio for all of your exams. I have the FAR NINJA audio on my computer at work and listen through the entire audio at least once a day and sometimes I am able to get through it a second time. Just depends on how many interruptions I get. The lectures in the NINJA audio are broken down into many sections. I really like the way Jeff gets right to the point on the topics.

Hope this helps and good luck with studying and the CPA exam!!!
