Do we really need to understand the concepts behind AUD? I am not a conceptual learner in the least and I’m going insane, because I don’t understand the concepts I just remember parts in the text book that tell me why an answer is right or wrong. I cannot make a conceptual connection and I feel like that is going to screw me on the exam. Help!

It might. Audit is a process based on the standards. It may help you to think of answers as rules rather than concepts. When studying i would hit something that i didn't understand then found it in the standard and realized the answer was correct simply because the standard said it was. The standard gives a little rationale and i would accept it.
You will start to notice the process if you start at the beginning of an engagement and follow it all the way through. There are certain things that are done at certain times. It really can be like reading a map. The wording will drive you crazy and it can be boring.

It's a conceptual subject, so you can't simply approach it the same way you approach the other 3. I recommend looking at these videos I put into playlist. The professor has a thick accent, but his enthusiasm and teaching is wonderful.

With that you can be introduced to the overlying concepts of Audit. From there, the multiple choice and readings will be easier to digest.

Me, I failed AUD with a 71 and passed the rest. Bear in mind that last testing window, AUD had the lowest passing rate, even lower than FAR.
