I had an on-campus interview yesterday. I would like to get into audit and I was planning on focusing on VBA and SQL after I finish the exams and then perhaps working on some sort of IT Audit cert as those generally require years of experience to make myself even more valuable. However, the interviewer mentions that pretty much all of auditing is now IT auditing and that they would preferably hire someone with 3+ years of IT Audit experience…Is this how every audit department in CPA firms work?

It feels comparable to what has been every entry level job posting for the past 7+ years – “Entry Level Job – 3 years of experience needed”. I just feel like I’m taking crazy pills! I have the 150 credits and once I finish the exams all Ill need is the experience. He did mention that they just started to consider the possibility that they would need to train people in order to do this.
