Can anyone tell me how they used the research portion to look up answers for the questions (other than the writing portion) in the same simulation? Please help I have this test on Saturday and i am so bad at these!

The look up trick won't be as useful in the Audit exam as it would be in say REG, but it's generally done using the same method.
You might have a few questions in which treatment of the case or your answer may depend on a certain classification or criteria - like which type of report applies for example. In this case if you are unsure, you can refer to the Auditing Standards to better choose an answer.
Using the look up from my experience w/ Audit, the lookup was generally useful for essays, or if you want to verify some basis for your answer choice.
If you have enough time I would say looking something up may have a shot at helping. If however you're facing a time crunch usually the look up process itself will most likely take away valuable time which may be more beneficial if utilized elsewhere.
Also keep in mind:
That the way the majority of the sections in MY sim's were to a degree lookup proof. - Referring to the Guides may have helped in deriving the answer but rarely if ever was an answer based solely on the standards.

Know your financial accounting. Often times audit sims encompass financial accoutning as well because in the real world of auditing you do so much financial accounting in your adjusting entries and your testwork. The research tab won't help with this though.
The best prep mindset for sims is to do this: As you go through your review program look at the material and think to yourself, how could this be tested in a sim? For example, sims usually have one tab with computation, another with drop down boxes, another where you have to check boxes that apply, and so on (that's how the sample ones in Becker are anyway), so for instance you are reading through your section on "reports", you will notice they kind of harp on which paragraph goes where in the except for qualifieds, adverse, and disclaimer reports, so if I am looking at that I say to myself, this could possibly be one of those drop down menu tabs where they give you the paragraph and you select the positioning of it from a list of choices, such as "before the opinion", "after the opinion", "in the scope", etc...
Mind you I didn't have a sim like this and never even saw one, this is just stuff that goes through my mind while I am reading it. All that flashcard making, and mneumonic memorizing strongly comes into play when doing your sims. Those things are not really designed for the M/C, the best thing to do for the M/C's are just to work them until you are sick of them.

I do all the regular questions as I go through the chapters, then in my final review over the last 2 weeks I work the supplementals for each chapter to see how much I have really retained. You probably already memorized the regular questions to a degree by working them over again trying get that 90% becker expects, so the supplementals give you a chance to see some new ones and really test your knowledge. Doing every possible question at your disposal is beneficial. You never know when you will see one again!
I would agree with kmcaulife. Just took AUD on 8/26 and passed. I think she is right on. I have read many times where FAR information is included in AUD simulations. I would recommend you do the Becker supplemental questions. I am using Becker and even though I failed AUD (73) first time around (Tried to do masters and exam at the same time, big mistake) I think some of the supplemental questions are of a higher difficulty and can be similar to a simulation. I think they were a big help for me.

Never have used a Becker final review product. During the exam, I would suggest that you go over every multiple choice question a second time. For most people time is not an issue. I think in general the multiple choice questions along with the communications will make or break your exam. I think it is the luck of the draw of the exam. I have heard others say many of the questions were similar, but that was not my experience the two times I took the exam. But I can say using Becker I felt that I was adequately prepared for the exam.

I would tend to agree that the Becker lectures may be boring, but I would not consider them a total waste of time. I am not a avid reader and would prefer to listen to the lectures over reading the material over. I was amazed by how much I retained after listen to the lectures 2 or 3 times. I think it just depends on how an individual best absorbs the information reading or listening. For me listening is better, reading might be better for you.

I agree with Lee_IN. For both, BEC and AUD I never read the book, but listened to the lectures twice: during live courses and during my own review - found them very good for these two sections.
I did also use Becker Final review. Probably didn't have to for AUD - I understood it well (had a good professor in college). But it really made a difference for me for BEC. I was doing low 60's in Becker final exams, and after I did Final reiew - I understood much more and scores went up.

Well, I did it over 1.5 days - so I'd say everything. Just this completely different approach to the same material in everything helped, I think. They don't have many mcq on final review, but they are more difficult... Hard to say precisely
