Well today I took my first CPA exam and it was audit. I felt like I was coming in well prepared studying 120 hours with both Becker and Ninja Notes. Overall I felt the MC questions were straight forward for the most part with only a few I had problems with and I could still normally narrow them down to 50% educated guess. Then came the SIMS I did not do well at all here and it cost me a passing grade I am almost certain. I had two research questions one which was straight forward the other I have no clue and literally ended up just guessing. I also had quite a few adjusting JE questions overall I probably got between 20-30% right on the SIMS. I will have to make sure this time around I really concentrate on SIMS, how are the sims in the Wiley books since I just felt the Becker SIMS were nothing like what I got because I would always score 70+ on their SIMS. I was going to start doing REG but since I know I am not going to get a passing grade I am going to take a week off and then get back into audit and retake the exam first week in October. Any tips for what I should work on to help me get a passing grade this time around would be greatly appreciated.

Your exam experience sounds typical of everyone else that takes the exam. My first test (REG) had a SIM that was so far out in left field I wondered if I was even taking the right exam after all. But, like you, I felt good about the MCQ and I turned out just fine.

If you handled the MCQs just fine like you think you did, I'd say that you passed just fine. If I were you, I'd start studying for REG and on the off-chance you don't pass AUD, you can go back to refreshing yourself on that material to take it again in October.

Hope you passed. I take it next Wednesday, and I am just starting A5, and trying to finish it tomorrow, and A6 in one day as well, and then for 6 straight days do all MCQ's 2 more times, and try to do the wiley test bank questions, the cpareviewforfree sims, and the final exams for becker… ahhhh. freaking out already. Im pretty sure bec will be a retake, dont want to have 2 to retake.
