I tend to find studying audit incredibly boring. But I have always wanted to one day work in audit. From experience, is working in audit anything like studying it? I know tax is a decent bit different, and better and worse in various ways. Much less cut and dry than you would originally think.

In my experience, studying audit for audit is very theoretical; whereas, performing an audit is the technical application of the audit theory. Simply put, and audit is the GAAS theory interpreted into an audit program and workpapers.

I'd hate to burst your bubble- the first year of auditing is pretty boring. You could find yourself spending the first year ticking and flicking. It's a tedious, boring, and thoughtless job, but somebody has to do it. That somebody is the Staff Accountant.
