Jeff-
I took my Audit exam this afternoon in the Prometric center in Westbury, NY. I had finished my 3rd testlet, when the power flickered out in the second exam room. Soon after, one half of my testing room lost power; however, I still had power as I began my first simulation. A few moments later, the fire alarms started going off in the testing center, and we were evacuated and told that we would be able to resume our exam at the point where we left off when the fire dept. cleared us to return. 3.5 hours later, we were informed by management of the building that the power was "likely" not going to come back on, as the backup power generator failed in providing power to the building and that electricians hadn't even arrived to assess the problem as of 7 PM (the power went out at 3:30). The Prometric staff, although helpful, seemed to want to split once they heard that there was a chance the power would not come back on, and sort of convinced all the other test takers to "reschedule their exam, free of charge, at a later date".
As the other test takers conceded defeat, soon enough I was the only one sitting there, and they basically told me to leave, 2 hours before Prometric was scheduled to close, because the power probably wasn't going to come on and I would have to retake the exam from scratch.
I thought I was doing extremely well. I'm sure I as well as everyone else on this forum, know what the answer will be, but I'll ask it anyway, do you have any idea if the AICPA will let me resume the test from the point in which I left off? I don't even care if they give me new sims or anything, I just would feel so deflated knowing I have to go through another 90 MCs after everything I've been through today at the test center due to the negligence of the building's management. I asked the Prometric staff what would happen with the answers of the 3 testlets I had completed, and they said that they are saved by Prometric whether an exam is completed or not, so there is a trail of proof that I had finished by first 3 testlets, and hadn't written a thing in my sim. I realize this is a longshot, but it's the only hope I have to hold onto. I feel like I'm going up against a two headed monster (AICPA and Prometric) in this matter. I feel helpless, like I wasted 1.5 hours of my day driving to this mismanaged building in Long Island, and sitting there for 6.5 hours (3.5 of which were blindly hoping for power to come back on). Then to top it off getting stuck in an hour and a half of traffic home, and took 2 days of work off last week to prepare for my exam with absolutely nothing to show for it. Please let me know if there's any precedent in this matter, I figured I'd come here to ask/vent for help before the inevitable calls to Prometric/AICPA tomorrow that will surely waste more time and give me the unfortunate results that I am expecting.
