Auditing exam too easy?

    Good Morning,

I re-took Auditing yesterday, for the third time, and I’m kinda scared by the process.

The first two times I’ve taken it (November 2010 and January 2011), the test was difficult. There was a lot of a material that was either new or very complicated with the answer. The simis were tough as well. I studied mostly with Gleim at the time, while also using a classroom style CPA review class.

As for yesterday, IMO it was a lot eaiser than before. I mean, I saw a number of questions from Gleim/Wiley this go around, and the Simis did not intimidate me in any way. Now, I know that I studied a lot during the month to get ready again (as of this point, I feel as if I can talk about Auditing for hours), but I am scared because of the way the exam flows. I mean, I know that the exam adapts to you as you go along – I’m hoping that I did not get easy exams because I did not know the material.

Thanks for any advice on this.

Same thing happened to me. I thought the exam was too easy for me to have passed. I felt the same thing about FAR and BEC as well. I would not worry too much about how “easy” or “hard” you thought the exam was. I did and I ended up getting myself stressed out as score release neared because I was over-thinking how the exam went.

    Wisconsin Candidate. NTS 450
    BEC - 82 AUD - 85
    FAR - 83 REG - 71, 86

That has to be a great sign if you think the exam was easy. It's probably a combination of you getting a slightly easier exam and you being very familiar with the material it being your third go around.

    FAR - F (2011), 5/16
    AUD - F(2011)
    BEC -
    REG -

2nd attempt at this thing. Time to get serious.

It's funny how we judge the exam as easy if the material was covered well, and hard, if we've never seen it before. I don't think the aicpa judges the questions by how well the review courses cover the material!!

    Thanks everyone.

Now I don't feel as if I'm too crazy. And now I can hope for a 75.

My husband thinks I'm nuts because I'm worried that I didn't pass AUD because the questions weren't tough enough.

The first test I took was FAR on 4/1. It was immediately apparent to me that the questions were much more difficult on the 2nd and 3rd testlets than on the first. The more difficult topics were emphasized, the questions were longer, and the questions were about more unusual or more complex situations. This actually made me feel pretty good because I knew this meant I did well on the first two testlets, and I felt well prepared for even the difficult questions. I knew the material for almost all of them–it just took me more time to get through. I finished everything on the exam, but with just a few minutes to spare and I didn't have time to review my answers on all the MCQ.

I took AUD on 4/15 and found it very different. I felt that I did well on all the testlets (I only had concerns about two questions on the first one), but they never seemed to get harder. The only change I noticed was that each testlet seemed to ask questions focused on different areas. There were a couple of questions out of left field on the last two but not enough to make me think that that the overall level of difficulty was that high. I ended up finishing with more than an hour to spare, and that was after I'd reviewed every MCQ and sim. I keep telling myself that it just means I was well prepared, but I can't help wondering.

I took REG on 4/29 and that was worse than either of the other two. I got questions on the first testlet that I swear someone w/ years of tax experience wouldn't have had a clue about. Oh, well–there's always July.

    FAR 4/1/11 - 89
    AUD 4/15/11 - 85
    REG 4/29/11 - 80
    BEC 5/13/11 - 85

So, I took AUD yesterday and honestly when I left FAR and REG I felt like I never knew what the hell score I was going to get. However, while going through the MCQs and then when I got to the SIMs I was like is this really it? Really?

I'm by no means a genius (look at my scores) and these exams, all four of them, are no joke. I respect each one of these sections equally, or try to. I am just shocked at the overall relaxed nature of the exam experience yesterday and frankly studying for this particular section in comparison to REG and certainly the animal that is FAR.

Watch me be the bozo on score release of Dec 9th looking like a donkey saying “Failed AUD!”.

Am I crazy? Does anyone else agree.
