Hi Kappa,

I took it a few years ago. I was able to do the class online on the weekends, but I think it took me the entire time to finish. I also had lots of family/work obligations. I believe you are paced, meaning you can't turn in an assignment before the previous one is graded and sent back, and sometimes it took the professor a week turnaround time.

I remember some other folks in the class at the same time who were thinking they could rush through it and turn in everything at once. They became very frustrated that it wasn't happening as quickly as they hoped.

Did you take any other online classes at Berkeley Extension or any other school? I'm thinking of taking the Ethics course at Berkeley Extension too, but that one is not on a rolling basis, so there is a definitive end date.

I took all my post-bacc accounting classes through UC Berkeley Extension. I did not take their Ethics though. The online courses were great when I needed the time flexibility, and I didn't really feel like driving across the bridge for classes 🙂

Hi Kappa, I'm in the North Bay, so it's a trek to get to Berkeley 🙂

My undergrad degree was in Speech and I graduated – gulp – in 1985! I'm sorry to say I don't have a benchmark for you. It seemed like a reasonable class, I didn't struggle and got an A. I found it interesting and I learned a lot. I liked the weekly opinions we got to write and post to our classmates, although there wasn't as much interaction with other students as I was hoping. I see we both ended up with identical AUD scores 😉 I just wish I had your FAR score too!!

Last time I paid about $800 for the class. The books have been between $100-200 depending on how/where you get them.

I think it's pricey, but I have no idea how it compares to Foothill.

Why take an auditing class if you already passed AUD?

City College of San Francisco, San Mateo Community College have them for about $150

I would check Golden Gate univ to see if they have a follow-up to introductory auditing.

@ MOD – 3 main reasons — 1. my firm is paying for it… 2. it's self-paced and i'm taking it during busy season, so it helps to have that flexibility during those 70 hr weeks 3. my firm is paying for it, lol
