Hi everyone,

Two questions concerning the research and authoritative literature for the exam.

First, has anyone registered for the 6-month trial subscription to the authoritative literature through the AICPA? I’ve filled out the form twice (you must be an approved candidate and have received a NTS) and haven’t heard back from them. I was hoping to check it out before my AUD exam this Saturday.

And second, is the research database complete on the exam? In my Gleim simulations, only articles applicable to their simulation research questions are made available, but I’d like to assume that the authoritative literature is complete as presented in the exam.

I signed up for 6 month free trial and only used it once. Once you are approved, takes about a week, they send you an email with a temporary password or something…….The site was too complicated and a waste of my time..

Don't use that website.

The Research in the exam is only worth one point. In fact, during the exams, I didn't do the Research Tab..

For AUD I'm doing thousands of practice MCQs….in Wiley and Gleim…

Thanks for the response! I was more concerned with becoming familiar with the research section so I can utilize it for other parts of the simulation, if necessary. The actual research question isn't concerning me too much.

Be very careful using the Research Tab to answer the other questions in a SIM.

I tried that for REG and spent so much time trying to find an answer that I ran-out of time and I failed REG with a 74.

My advice is don't use the Research unless you have so much time it doesn't matter you spending and hour on the research tab

Good tip, thanks! This is my first exam with simulations so I guess I'm just nervous. Only took BEC so far.

I am confused about the research tab as well. I'm wondering if its available for any topic. I'm worried about the written communication. Will I be able to research tab for anyting or will be it unavailable for certain topics?

Also,

Does anybody have any good resources for the written communication. Gleim really doesn't go to far into detail.

I heard stick with a 3 paragraph form and make sure you include a thesis. Any advice would be great. Take Audit on Wednesday

I am also concerned with the writing. I am scared to death that I will draw a complete blank. But I'm a pretty good writer, and as long as you stay on topic and write clearly, etc, I think it should be OK. And yes, use a thesis – I like to generally rephrase the topic of the communication given as an intro sentence or two.

I'm also not sure if its unavailable for certain topics – that was one of the reasons I posted here. If you are using Gleim like me, a lot of the topics aren't available! Hopefully that's just their software.

I think the research tab is extremely helpful. During the Audit Exam I found the answers for 5 out of the 7 questions in the lit. I think becker does a poor job on how to use the tool. I do agree that it is important for time management. I answered all the questions without the lit and then went back and checked my answers. I found the answers word for word in the lit and it changed the outcome of the exam for me.
