Authoritative Literature in AUD SIMS

Hi Everyone – I’m a week out from my next stab at AUD. I’ve been studying every day and crossing my fingers that I pass it this time!! I wanted to get some opinions on the simulations – mainly the authoritative literature. I see that people have said to “know how to use it,” but I’m just looking for some more clarification. I’ve even seen where people said they used the AL for all of their sims. My biggest question is: how?! Does anyone have any tips? I’ve been studying with Becker and downloaded the Ninja Audio and the Wiley Test Bank. Hoping that studying pays off this time!!

I am also interested in this. I'm thinking people are just searching and it could possibly really help you on this exam.

If anyone has any further guidance on using the AL on the AUD exam, it would be appreciated.

The AL has just about every single answer to every single TBS you can get. For example, suppose you have a Sim that asks you to fill in the blanks of a standard audit report. Well, the sample standard audit report is IN the literature, verbatim. If you can navigate your way there, there's no reason not to score a 100% on that question. Get comfortable using Boolean operators “AND” and “OR” in your searches. Know the different acronyms and abbreviations of source documents so you at least start in the right section of your search results.

I found one of my simulations word for word in the AL. Another I found most of in the AL. In these instances, they were used as “examples” for the literature. I just kept searching keywords or even certain phrases from the question.

I think with audit, there's so much time, that if you bang out the MCQ's fairly quickly/methodically, you can leave a ton of time at the end to search every SIM. It's so worth it!

    R - *77*(02/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    A - 71('11); *87*(04/'13)-Becker & NINJA
    F - *76*(08/'13)-Becker & NINJA - "server upgrade" survivor
    B - 60('11); *82*(10/'13) -Becker & NINA

    DONE, DONE, AND DONE.

Agreed with the people posting above. Know how the sections work. One of the best helpers is to use the search function first, and then to narrow it down further, use the search within. That will only search within the documents that your first search returned. And if you by cahnce get an audit report to fill in the blanks, it will be in the AL. Good luck!

AL is good for most of the conceptual Sims, but AUD has FAR-like computational Sims too, so you cannot overrely on the AL theory…

    CPA (2017)

    REG:  75

    BEC:  76

    FAR:  77

    AUD: 78

    CMA (2019)

    P1: 380

    P2: 360

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)

To neika882's point, your best friend on AUD is time. If a MCQ is giving you a hard time, move on. Wrestling over one MCQ isn't worth research time on the sims.

Has anyone NOT found the authoritative literature to be helpful for AUD? I had 2.5 hours left for my sims, so I had plenty of time to search the AL. Three of my sims were too easy to warrant using the AL, two were research (so I obviously had to use the AL), and the remaining two were insanely hard but the AL did not go into enough detail to be useful. The whole “taking answers word for word from the AL” that everyone seems to always talk about for AUD was NOT the case for me.
