    Hey Everyone,

I dropped off my initial application to the AZ State Board of Accountancy about a month ago (on 5/27/15). The lady at the front desk reviewed my materials with me and everything was good. My $100 check cleared on 6/3/15 so all this month I have felt good about my initial interactions with the state board.

I have also been studying for FAR, hoping to take it at the every end of July… I don’t know if my scheduling and overall expectations were off-base, but it looks like I won’t be able to test until August 20th per a letter that was emailed to me on the 25th. I’m just now seeing it so of course they’re not open during the weekend.

Anywho, I reproduced the letter below and am hoping if someone could just give me a quick confirm/deny that this seems strange and that I won’t be doing any FAR testing until well into August…

    Dear …:

The Arizona State Board of Accountancy (Board) received your application for the Uniform CPA Examination on May 27, 2015. After a preliminary review by staff, it appears that all required documentation for your examination file has been received.

There will be a substantive review by the Certification Committee (Committee) on July 30, 2015. Once the review is final, the committee will make its recommendation to the Board. The Board will meet on August 20, 2015 to review the Committee’s recommendation for approval/denial. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (602) 364-… .

    Sincerely,

    Administrative Assistant

Same thing with licensing. They received my license app on 3/31 letter stating my app was complete on 4/27 (they have 30 days) and that it would go to the cert committee on 5/27 and reviewed by board on 6/8. So, about 2 months.

Seems about right, drop off on 5/27 review by 6/27 (30 days) then next cert committee meeting 7/30 (you missed the 6/8 meeting) and then board review 8/20. What takes long is the initial 30 day staff review. I think then you'll get a authorization to test from AZ board and then a Notice to schedule (NTS) from NASBA that you pay and then schedule your exam.
