Could someone tell me how to tell the difficulty of MCQ testlets please? honestly, I totally have no idea it is getting harder or easer in AUD. In REG and FAR, I can tell based on complexity of calculation and some JEs. But in AUD, I really have no idea. Maybe I just fuqued up MCQ….

    FAR - 88
    REG - 88
    AUD - 99
    BEC - 87

I don't know how you could really tell, and especially with audit

    Passed - 2014

I had the exact same issue when I took the test a few weeks back. I guess I'll find out on Thursday.

In all my test I could not tell which were had a “hard” difficulty or a “medium” difficulty. I would not even bother worrying about it.

The only section I was ever able to tell was for FAR. I couldn't tell a difference between the medium vs. hard testlets, even though they clearly got harder because I passed with scores in the 80s.

I will add that if I failed AUD, I'm confident I was weaker in MCQ and stronger in SIMs. I was given gifts for SIMs (two research, two found verbatim in AL and one straight from Becker)

I'm glad to see this thread – I felt the same way when I took the exam last week (kinda makes me feel sick thinking about Thursday).

The only way I can make myself feel better is tell myself that “hardest” question in my second/third testlet was “harder” than the hardest question in the first… likewise, the “easiest” question in the first was easier than the second/third. But really, the questions were all over the board – there were ridiculously easy questions sprinkled throughout the entire thing. But that's not to say it wasn't difficult!! I found myself confusing topics I was sure I had down… not so, apparently.

And yeah, @_Nick_, having two research questions in AUD sucks! I'd much rather have one of the other sims thrown out.

I truly have no idea how I did…

    FAR - 90
    AUD - 91
    BEC - 86
    REG - 87

    @Sarah,

While I was angered by the second research SIM, the AICPA has never definitively stated whether the second research SIM is the pre-test SIM. It would make sense that it is; however, the AICPA grading methodologies are perplexing.

From what I can recall. regarding AUD difficulty, my 1st testlet felt like “Pick the definition”, meaning 1 word answers, to single sentence questions. Whereas I progressed to Testlet 2 and 3, questions became essays and there was no longer 1 Good answer, but 2 Good answers and you have to pick the BEST!

Audit is very tricky, the questions might seem easy but some words are actually twisted to trick you.

When I took AUD, the mcqs were easy in my own estimation, but the simulations got me confused and I guessed on most part of the simulation. I knew my score could go either way, the moment I left prometric. I wasn't surprised when I got 75

    REG -63│ 84!!
    BEC- 59│70│ 71 │78!
    AUD- 75!
    FAR- 87!

Here is my experience in the exam. When I went to 2nd testlet, I was thinking maybe I just mess up with 1st. Then when went to 3rd, I felt I maybe I fuqued up 2nd, too… since all of them included some easy questions and the length of question is not that long… What a nightmare!!

    FAR - 88
    REG - 88
    AUD - 99
    BEC - 87

I think that my testlets 2 and 3 were difficult because they were definitely harder for me than testlet 1. Hopefully I'm right! The first testlet I felt confident about all but 2 questions. Even if I didn't know the right answer I knew the other 3 weren't right. The next 2 testlets the answers weren't as easy to figure out, there were multiple good answers. There were several that I could narrow down to 2 and then guess.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

@_Nick_ – very true! I suppose anything is possible with these exams. I'll definitely be checking in again on Thursday to see how everybody did (and to report back).

I feel like I did okay on the multiple choice (despite being freaked out by the lack of difference between the testlets), but a couple of the simulations had me flipping a coin between options. That didn't feel too great.

    FAR - 90
    AUD - 91
    BEC - 86
    REG - 87

Don't overthink the difficulty levels of your testlets. It's not a good use of resources and doesn't really mean anything. A noticeably harder testlet means you probably did really well on the previous one, but *not* getting a noticeably harder testlet doesn't mean you failed the previous one.

I got about the same scores on my 3 tests:

AUD – thought the MCQs stayed about the same (and likely failed), thought I did really well on sims

FAR – thought testlet #2 got noticeably harder, thought I failed the sims

REG – thought the MCQs stayed about the same (and likely failed), thought I did really well on sims

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

@Kimbo, your experience with AUD is extremely encouraging.

I do have to admit that even though I should have been only focusing on the questions at hand in the proceeding testlets, part of me kept pondering why the questions didn't seem to get more difficult in the 2nd or 3rd testlets in comparison to the first testlet.

The optimist side of me would say that I just knew the material really well and that's why it didn't seem like the questions got harder. The pessimist/realist side would say that there was a distinct possibility that they weren't getting harder because I struggled on the first testlet.

Ultimately, I agree that there is no point in thinking about it any longer and only worrying about the score on Thursday!
