I just passed my last part of the exam. But I have to file bankruptcy due to business and family personal health issues. Does anyone know if it's better to file bankruptcy before or after getting a license?\n

\nI am very sorry to hear about your situation!
\nThis is a question for your bankruptcy attorney for sure. They are the experts and bankruptcy laws vary by state.

\n"11. If I am a CPA and file bankruptcy, will that affect my license?
\nNo. The two are not related. "
This is from FL board of accountany website (FAQ page).

\nI am inteested to know how your filing turned out with your CPA credential.
\nI filed in 2010 also, CH 13, will be off my credit report in 5 more years, thankfully.
\nI spent all of 2010 passing the CPA. Not one employer will touch me. I understand their apprehension in hiring an accountant who possibly did not manage their own finances correctly.
\nMy situation was due to the economy just like many other people. But I know for sure now that I am being declined job offers in the accounting industrry due to my CH 13, discrimination allowed or not. I see their inquiries on my credit report and then I get the decline letter, even after round 3 of interviews when I authorize them to run my background.
\nIt completely sucks, but thankfully PA has a 10 year limit on getting your hours in to obtain the license, so I haven't thrown in the towel yet, and I will sitll have 6 years to get the experience done after it is off my record, so I BETTER be employed by then or I suck.
\nUnitl then, I have to just try some less professional industry work to get myself financially stable again and put my background and education and credentials aside for now.
\nI am also thinking of hitting the smaller local tax offices for employment where they might not run my credit or see it as such a negative thing. I'm a nice and smart guy, I know that, but an employer sure does not know that by seeing a ch 13 on my record. I completely understand their apprehension.
\nTell me how you have made out.\n
\njccjr, I'm not sure what your problem is?
\nAre you saying you can't get hired under a CPA to get your experience in order to get your CPA license?
\nOr that you do have your CPA license and can't get hired?
What is your experience level?\n
