Not going to lie, I haven’t even bothered with the last three ballots I’ve gotten including the one for today’s election. How about you guys?

I agree Rocky and I was not bashing. There were years in the past that I chose not to vote (not for good reasons, either). But I concede it was my choice of how I spent my time, not the lack of it, that caused me to make that choice. I don't think it made me a “bad person” or even a “bad constituent” although I still regret those handful of elections that I sat idly by allowing others to make decisions on my behalf.

Its a common theme on weight loss message boards for people to post they have no time to exercise and a more common response that the time spent online could easily be spent getting in 10-15 minutes of activity.

I live in NY so it doesn't matter. It must be nice to live in a state where your vote can actually counts toward something.

did they just called out @mamabear for not voting, oh no you didn't! People just need to relax a little bit and not pass judgments. It's her right to vote or not to, regardless of her having a CPA exam or not. Just my $0.02 🙂

my hour fifteen was based an hour to research (min) and 15min to vote. I completely agree with mamabear that if you dont have a clue you should prolly stay home. Voting is a amazing privilege and should be taken seriously (ie know what you are voting on). No judgement on those who dont…but its a priority for me because i know what it took to get the right

You always make me smile Zubairs! This isn't anything compared to being part of a mommy forum. You post in one of those and every decision you make is judged and questioned by others from how you feed your child to how you put them to bed at night. You learn to get a thick skin when people don't agree with you, but thanks for coming to my defense. 🙂

I voted, but I agree that if you don't know why/have time to understand why you are voting for someone, you should stay home. I'm also super lucky that I work part time and can go during the day and vote quickly. Otherwise, with 3 kids under 6, there's no way I could take them all and wait in line.

I have personally chosen to vote in almost every election since I turned 18 – even the primaries. A family member told me when I was 16 or 17 that “If you don't vote, you don't get to complain.”

    I like to complain. 🙂

Regardless, there are a lot of reasons people choose to vote or not vote. Voting is something that I personally take very seriously, and I don't take much seriously. That said, I also agree that you should make an educated decision – I've left spots blank on my ballot that had to do with candidates or issues I knew little to nothing about. I came across an article the other day that profiled the “nonvoters,” but I can't seem to find it right now. If you do a quick Google search though, there's a pretty good debate out there.

This is exactly why early voting is important (and why it's not highly favored)…more days to try and fit voting into your schedule.

@alboreland NYC is like liberal heaven. Although, a Republican, or independent can win Mayor, Governor in NYS, they would certainly always lose NYS when it comes to presidential races.

@NYCaccountant The worst part is they rarely even debate. This election, the gov knew he had it in the bag and debated once and I think that was only because he was cornered into it.

Definitely. The excuse that you don't have time to vote is ridiculous. On the high end it takes a couple hours to get out and vote. It took me around a half hour.

As they say, “if you don't vote, you can't complain.”

The reality is that if you didn't vote, you shouldn't be allowed to post here, and frankly you probably shouldn't be allowed to be an American.

    I speak for everyone here.

Edit- Vote early, and vote often!
