Just got a 73 on BEC. On the bright side it's a 2 point improvement…on the not bright side there is another 200 bucks and however many hours of my life back to the AICPA.
I used solely Ninja MCQ for my two failures, as well as the notes. I was doing really well but got hit with a bunch of Obscure Corporate Governance questions on the exam, and I don't feel like Ninja does that great of a job with that Chapter. Trying out free trials of other review programs, I saw they went a lot more in depth on COSO etc. Also COSO is my job, so I probably shouldn't even use that for an excuse!
But anyway, I am thinking I might grab Roger CRAM for BEC (I think he was the reason for my 76 in FAR finally) and supplement with a new MCQ bank, CPAexcel? I have seen a lot of people suggesting you use two different MCQ banks for BEC, and they might be right. Ninja notes are always a good idea though, as well as rewriting like crazy!
For reference I was trending 78 with an average score of 74 in Ninja. It wasn't from memorizing either, I was doing really well on the “CPAreviewforfree” questions before the exam. I love Ninja, but I think after two failures switching it up is a good tactic. You guys got it next time! Getting in the 70's definitely sucks because it's kind of like dangling the carrot. You are close, and it is incredibly possible for you to pass but we just need a bit more money and time from you!
