Hey all; I’m looking for some advice :3

I am taking BEC on May 8th and haven’t started studying yet.. I’m working full time now at a big 4, and I have 45 minutes on a train twice a day to get to work.. I should probably use that time to study.. however..

for FAR I pretty much procrastinated until 2 weeks before, and studied 14 hours a day using mostly just a test bank – this worked out great for me.

AUD I did the same thing really, waited until the few weeks before and went ham on MCQ and sims..

I’m a procrastinator and I get nothing done unless the pressure is on.. so how am I supposed to study for BEC now that I don’t HAVE 14 hours a day, and I really only want to use a test bank.. I can’t really do that on the train, unless I do them in the book I guess. How many hours do you think I need to be putting in? I have weekends off but not looking forward to studying… I think I have lost my motivation now that I’m working D:

FAR - 89 (8/19/14) Wiley TB, Wiley Book, Books from School, Ninja Audio/Notes
AUD - 92 (10/14/14) Wiley TB, Wiley Book, Ninja Audio/Notes
BEC - 82 (5/8/15) Ninja MCQ, A few Becker lectures during commute
REG - 84 (8/14/15) Ninja MCQ, A few Becker lectures during commute

    Letters after my name soon!

I was also studying for BEC while working full time at a Big 4 and had a 45 min train ride each way. It was going to be too much of a hassle to start up a laptop and work MCQ for like 30 minutes. What I did instead was listened to NINJA Audio and took intense notes while listening. It helped me continually pay attention to what Jeff was saying (I zone out way too much for my own good normally) and retain the information a little bit better.

I usually picked a specific section to listen to and then if I got to work early/during lunch/after work I'd work questions on that section.

On the train, I suggest reading the book, or listening to video / audio lectures. There are also some mobile apps you can use, I believe Wiley has a test bank mobile app you can do on your phone / tablet, which may be what you're looking for. My friend would use it during work breaks and he liked it. I don't believe your progress on it integrates with the regular web-based test bank though.

    AUD: 83
    FAR: 77
    REG: 86
    BEC: 86

Thanks for the advice guys – I definitely zone out too, I tend to listen to podcasts and I'm luckily if I can even stay focused on that. I think you're right about ninja audio.. I should probably buy it.. my firm bought me Becker, blech.. too much material for my liking.. I did enjoy listening to ninja audio before bed and in the shower for FAR and AUD. I'd like to avoid reading books or watching lectures at all costs lol.

FAR - 89 (8/19/14) Wiley TB, Wiley Book, Books from School, Ninja Audio/Notes
AUD - 92 (10/14/14) Wiley TB, Wiley Book, Ninja Audio
BEC - 82 (5/8/15) Mostly Ninja MCQ, sprinkles of Becker lectures and Ninja Audio
    REG - (8/14/15)

My main program was CPAExcel, but I supplemented with the Wiley Test Bank and Ninja Notes. I found going through the Ninja Notes over and over again extremely helpful, as they condensed everything and kept concepts that I had already studied fresh. You could easily bind them to bring them on the train. I'm with some of the others too on the Ninja Audio. It seems like that would work well in your situation.

    FAR - 2/14/14 - 87 - CPAExcel and Wiley Test Bank
    BEC - 5/2/14 - 79 - CPA Excel and Wiley Test Bank
AUD - 8/28/14 - 86 - CPA Excel, Wiley Test Bank, and Ninja Notes
REG - 1/30/25 - 86 - CPA Excel, Wiley Test Bank, and Ninja Notes

    DONE!!!

It took me about a month studying a few hours a day. We will see how it pays off on Saturday! I am currently trending 84 percent. Some weeknights I would take off and then catch up on the weekends. Weekends are crucial as my mind is fresh in the morning. What is your weekend routine like? Do you have a wife begging you to help you clean?

I just kept doing a lot of MCQ's because my style of learning is hands-on and learning from my mistakes. Also, a lot of the question go really quick. Not every question is like FAR where the question is a short-story and has a hidden detail in sub paragraph 4 line 3……

Keep in mind though, that I am very well versed in IT, so it is helping a lot.

    AUD - NINJA in Training
    BEC - 86
    FAR - NINJA in Training
    REG - NINJA in Training
    AUD - 71, 73

    BEC - 74, 86

    REG - 77*

    FAR - 57

    *expired

(I have been trying to become a CPA since 2013). only one test down.......

    FAR: 63, 55, 62
    REG: 65, 77*
    AUD: Fail, 64, 71
    BEC: 72, 74, 81

    *expired

I would focus on reading the material, reviewing flashcards, and writing notes on the train all during the week. I'm doing this for BEC right now. Then focus on hammering out MCQs on Saturday night after work (or all day Sunday).

I've been doing this strategy supplemented with the all day Sunday MCQs and am taking BEC this Saturday 🙂

i think the easiest & most effective way to study on your way to/from work is to go through flashcards. Ninja flashcards were really helpful when it came to econ, corporate governance, and IT stuff (basically all the conceptual topics). Other parts, you're just gonna have to go through MCQ's. gluck!
