Getting ready to start BEC for I don’t know which time already. I have missed it by 1 point and have missed it by many points. Any tips? Planning to use Roger and NINJA MCQs and Notes. Anyone have any other methods that have worked?? Thanks.

silliepanda, which review material were you using for BEC before switching to Roger?

@Martin how's it going with your studies? I'm having the hardest time with BEC. I understand everything when Roger goes over the material but when it comes time to apply the material to the MCQs I struggle…this goes for Roger, NINJA and Wiley book MCQs. This is happening more so with financial management and now cost accounting. How about you? Any tips for all of us and silliepanda? By the way, congrats on Audit!

@sillipanda…I really like Roger but as I mentioned to Martin I'm having a hard time with the MCQs. I think Roger does a great job explaining the material in a way that you understand it. However, I guess it's just me but I'm having a mental block for MCQs. I'm also writing down as many notes from both the lecture and the MCQs and of course writing down all the formulas. I guess the key is to keep doing MCQs and understand what they are asking (my biggest struggle) and know what formulas to apply, etc. Wish you and all of us much luck!

I have used Becker in the past and Roger the last few times. Don't think it's the actual study stuff that is my issue. I am just not grasping stuff for some reason. Frustrating and need to go in with a clear mind.

Zumo76, Im having the same issue with BEC, I go over the lectures, and when I think I got it and Im ready for MC, I dont score higher than a 74. How are you scoring on your first try? The only advice i can give you is to create your won flash cards from all the formulas you can find on each chapter, and review them once in a while. I think BEC is the one part of the CPA exam that you should try to do as many MC as you can even if you dont score higher than a 50. I'm planning on getting Ninja as soon as I feel comfortable with all the chapters.

When I first go through the material I refer to my notes and material to get to the answer that I don't really grade myself. However, even using that method there are times on the calculation questions that I can't even figure out what the question is asking until I look at the answer. :/ I probably won't actually “quiz” myself until I'm completely done going through all the materials. Yeah, I agree with you on the MCQs. I'll definitely keep working at it. Thanks for the tips and good luck!
