    Becker Question –

So I recently started studying for BEC, which I have scheduled for November 24th. I have the next three weeks to do nothing but study. I finished B1 feeling okay there were some questions from cost accounting that were tricky but overall felt good. I just finished watching the lecture for B2 and I all I have to say is WTF!!!!! I feel so confused.. Please tell me someone else felt the same way and does is get easier after B2 lol …. Do you think November 24th is sufficient time to pass? Thanks everyone

What in particular has you stumped? It will help us respond if we can attack certain topics or better yet specific roadblocks you are having with certain topics….

Have you spent any time in the study groups? I've had some duds and some great ones but they can be great help. In general…I've felt lost/overwhelmed/doomed at least once in every exam. My general advice is to not get stuck too deep in the weeds on any one topic during your first pass. The way I work: First pass is for conceptual understanding and absorbing whatever I can. If a topic just isn't clicking I take detailed notes on why…and move ON. I then add it (very specifically all of the topics and sub-topics in a chapter) to a list of weaknesses so I know to focus on it come review time. In my final week I take my list and scratch out anything I have a recent trend of 80+. Everything else gets prioritized by MCQ score….I copy the ninja notes by hand for those topics…recopy into Word…and memorize that pile of crap! 🙂 good luck

B2 and B3 absolutely 100% suck. The questions are hard and take an eternity to get through. You'll do much better during review but the first time through you should expect crap grades lol. B4 is tough but its a different kind of tough. You'll make it through the questions much faster at least. B5 and B6 are easy

    AUD - 89 07/02/14 (Becker practice exam: 74, 83)
    REG - 92 08/18/14 (Becker practice exam: 75, 84)
    BEC - 83 10/03/14 (Becker practice exam: 83, 70)
    FAR - 91 11/24/14 (Becker practice exams: 64, 77)
*also utilized Becker Final Review after seeing practice scores for FAR*

BEC didn't click for me until I purchased the ninja MCQs to be honest. have you thought about doing that? It might be worth it. I purchased it with only 10 days before my exam and im positive it is the reason I passed

    A - 75
    B - 78 God is good.
    F - 77 Answered prayers.
    R - 84! Done!!

Paperwork sent - waiting for license!!
Still on a cloud and in shock. Through God, all things will happen.

Becker released a new version of the B2 lecture with a new instructor. I find it NIGHT AND DAY better than the original… especially for variance analysis.

I'm in an odd position to have used both. My exam was scheduled for November, but I was forced to take a “break” (it's almost funny to say it was a break). Anyways, I ended up rescheduling it and started studying all over again this month.

My understanding went from extremely shaky to very solid…. granted, it's my second time through the material, but even so, I've never experienced quite as dramatic of an “a ha!” moment.

    FAR - 90
    AUD - 91
    BEC - 86
    REG - 87

Chapter 2 wouldn't be hard if Becker had EXAMPLES on how to do certain topics. I love how the longest homework section has the least amount of examples, especially for accrued liabilities/expense. It also doesn't really teach you how to do intercompany transaction problems, which is where my worst homework score is.

For those using other courses, do they have better resources for accruals and intercompany transactions?

    FAR 57 (11/2014), 64 (1/2015), 79 (7/2015)
    AUD 68 (2/2015), 79 (11/2015)
    REG 79 (1/2016)
    BEC 81 (4/2016)

Oh man I hope I have a similar success story to yours! I thought B1-B3 were so hard. I'm now reviewing the material for my January test date and I so hope it'll be enough =(

I'll be honest Cost Accounting is the one area you can spend so much time in and never master I feel like then when it comes to the test you will feel like you wasted your time studying it. I took BEC a few times and it varied between the amount of cost I saw. I wouldn't ignore it, but I'd just understand how to calculate it.

When I finally passed I basically left cost to just practicing it on the MCQs and understand how to do the calculations aspect rather than understand the full picture.

    A- 53, 55
    B- Passed!
    F- Not Yet Taken
    R- 1/17/2015

V.2.0 is the new one (it's a woman lecturer – can't remember her name)… it's not the one with Peter Olinto. They dropped a bunch of the mnemonics and focus on the formulas…

I don't think you have to worry about additional updates… but I don't know how often they do it.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. I eventually got to a point where I know the concepts, but i realized I just didn't feel like taking hours upon hours just to do these long and exhausting MCQs. So far that seems like the only real tough chapter. Going to be done with B4 tomorrow, and from what I hear B5/6 aren't bad

    AUD - July 2014 - 76
    REG - August 2014 - 82
    FAR - November 2014 - 78
    BEC - January 2015 - 81

    DONE!!!!

Used Becker online. Who needs a text when you can burn your eyes out staring at the screen for months on end?

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you're hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"
