BEC Becker Final Exams – Should I be worried?

I just took the second Becker final exam and was shocked to see how difficult it was. Should I be worried, given that my exam is tomorrow morning? I took the first exam last Friday, and had these MCQ scores:

    Testlet 1: 91%

    Testlet 2: 75%

    Testlet 3: 79%

I felt pretty good about those scores, compared to the other becker finals I’ve taken. So over the weekend I focused on my weak spots, did 200+ more practice questions, reread a few chapters, and went through all the flashcards. Felt pretty confident sitting down to take the second practice final…and was stunned by the ramped-up difficulty. Exam 2 scores were:

    Testlet 1: 79%

    Testlet 2: 54%

    Testlet 3: 62%

Yikes! Has anyone else experienced this? Is Becker just trying to scare me? I’m just a little shocked. Advice?

I did bad on the review exam 2 too.

It felt like some of the questions in that second review exam were never covered in the chapters at all.

As long as you understand the concepts from chapters 1-6 and know how to apply them in MCQs, I think you will be okay.

I also went over the questions that were tough and the ones I got wrong before the actual exam, just to make sure I understood it.

    Good luck on your exam!

Thanks for the reassurance. Going over my wrong answers now, and yeah it feels like some of these came out of nowhere. For general progress tests I've been scoring 80s and 90s, so I still have some confidence there. I also hope the writing component will boost my score

I think you will be fine 🙂

i posted this on other threads but yea i got a 55/72 on the practice exam 2 yesterday and was concerned myself… one of the hardest exams ive taken for becker and i took all the other ones. consensus is though is that the practice exam 2 that we both took is substantially harder than the others. so i wouldnt worry too much

Yeah this one gave me flashbacks of the Reg ones, both of which I got 60s on. Miracle I passed! Luckily I feel more comfortable with this material, especially the calculations. Focusing on COSO now because it seems like that gets heavily tested, and I seem to get tripped up on those.

Well the real thing was much simpler than the Becker exams, per usual. Felt pretty good so I'm hoping for the best

    Without breaking the disclosure rules

How would you compare the similarity of the

MCQS on the Becker progress tests? And do you think

questions were evenly distributed among topics

or some topics go more of the questions?

Did you encounter many out of the blue questions?

    @Vickkki

For me the actual questions are simpler, and definitely shorter on average. As for content…I saw a lot of different things on that people claimed on this site, like one topic being tested very frequently, with others being completely left out. That was not my experience. My questions covered stuff from every Becker chapter, no doubt. Yes, some things got left out (mostly to my relief), but that's just the nature of these tests. They can't test everything. I also felt like Becker completely prepared me for the questions I faced. Any uncertainty I had was due to my own slacking on certain topics…haha

Yikes…I'm getting scared about Final #2. I'm taking it in about 2 hours (I have a conference call and lunch, first). I'm also taking the exam tomorrow morning at 8am. I'm doing one last review of the passkeys in the book before my call.

I think as long as I score around 70, I'll feel pretty great.

    FAR - 93 (YAY!!!!)
    REG - 93 (Double YAY!)
    BEC - 87 (Whew!)

My advice for now is that exam 2 is nothing but a becker scare tactic. We'll see if that holds up come score release day haha

As you can see the end result was a solid pass, so don't let those Becker exams freak you out!

The 2nd BEC final exam was the only practice exam I took. And I took it the day before my actual exam. I got a 55% on the practice and freaked out. I thought there was no way I was going to be able to make up the difference, especially when people say that you get about 10 points higher on the actual exam than the practice exam. I ended up with 28 points higher and saw absolutely nothing on the test even remotely like that horrible evil practice exam.
