Taking BEC on 7/24. Feeling nervous about this part based on what I read in this forum. I find this part similar to AUD. Any tips for the final review, and/or your experiences will be really helpful!

Formulas are good, understanding the IT aspects is important, and knowledge of budget/variance issues.

Used CPA Excel Silver and CPA Excel Iphone App. From 2012 to mid-2014 I was also in law school fulltime while working fulltime.

I took my BEC test today. I think all my testlets got medium/easier. I will comeback to BEC as my last part if I don't make it this time. I want to finish FAR, and REG first.

I take my BEC test Sunday.. any tips for me? People say this is the ‘easiest' section, but I am finding it more difficult than audit and harder to study for than FAR.. I am really nervous.

Definitely know about COSO, COSO – ERM, COBIT for sure. Contribution Margin, Variances, Joint, and Process Costing, NPV, IRR, and Payback. Know your formulas. I forgot formulas for some of them, and this is going to cost me dearly. Wish you the very best! Let me know how your exam went.

Well I took BEC today… I had about 10 questions that weren't in Becker, frustrating. I also looked up 2 of the questions I was unsure of and found out I had the right answer and then switched it to the wrong one. I feel horrible about it..

I felt that BEC was my hardest exam too. I think of all of the four exams, that Becker prepares you for it the least.

Yeah I agree. I am disappointed in Becker as far as BEC goes. There were so many topics Becker completely left out. Did you pass BEC on your first try?

This is a great thread. I'm taking BEC in a couple of weeks and also am extremely nervous! I do not feel as prepared for this test as I did for the others.

@Kayla123 – Do you have any other tips to add from your recent experience? How was economics on your test? I'm having the hardest time grasping the econ concepts and am wondering how much time I should devote to it….I have the basics down but am lost beyond that! 🙁

I would know IT stuff, a basic understanding of econ should be fine, it would have been sufficient on my test. I didn't have very challenging questions, with the exception of the questions that just weren't covered in my materials… those were frustrating. I would focus on COSO and ERM too.

Yes I passed on my first attempt but it was a brutal wait for score release…but I was studying for Audit so it helped time pass by quicker.

I'll be studying for REG in the meantime but I am not sure I'll be able to focus knowing I did so poorly on BEC. I had to guess on at least 20 MC questions total, 10 of which were in the third testlet. I feel defeated..

@Kayla123 – I am in the same position too. I have started FAR today, and trying my best to forget about BEC. Hang in there. Hope we all pass this part. Good luck with your REG prep!

@Kayla123 and rp12 – I'm sure you guys did better than you think! There are 12 pretest questions on BEC so the ones that were not in the study materials were probably pretest. Can't say for sure since I am using Wiley CPAexcel not Becker, but don't give up hope yet! 🙂
