Anyone else taking BEC in the Apr/May window? I'm set to sit on one of the last days in May. I was surprised that my Becker self study has me slated to start my review in mid-April, but they still have me completing 2 lectures a week! I found two a week to be exhausting for REG, anyone know if 2 a week is more manageable for BEC? Should I try to start earlier and do one a week? Also, is there a relatively inexpensive cram for BEC that anyone would recommend?
Thanks in advance for any advice, sorry for any re-posts and good luck to anyone else prepping like me!
hey. unfortnuately i will be sitting for BEC again this window because i failed it when i took it march 6. booo. this section sucks. i am definitely waiting until tax season is OVER to pick up the material again. i have to order new material for BEC because my becker expires april 1. so i am gonna order materials for FAR, too. 2 down, 2 to go!
lucylaw – 2 in a week would probably be better. you have plenty of time to study if you aren't sitting until the end of may. you could also do 1 a week as well and then make sure you have a week for review. that would probably work, too. relatively inexpensive BEC cram would probably be Yaeger – i got the 2009 CRAM and it was about $100? not too bad. i ordered the Wiley book from amazon and the DVD from the yaeger website. you should go with the 2010 stuff now though.
hope to see you around the forum!! good luck with studying
AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!
I am taking BEC on April 30th. Never taken it before. Chapter 3 in Becker for BEC was a pain. I'm on chapter 4 right now and I think chapter 5 is going to be a pain as well. So much math. How is everyone dealing with all the formulas/math?
Thanks for the advice, MPoni123. good luck with your upcoming studies. I doubt if I'll buy the Wiley text. Probably just rely on Becker and see how I feel after the first week. good to know about the Yeager cram. I remember looking at the final cram offered by Becker and almost being suckered into dropping the $250.
South0085, good luck to you. You'll have to keep us posted. I heard someone mention on another thread that he/she made a sheet with all of the formulas on it, laminated it and carried with everywhere to study at any given time. i thought that sounded like an awesome idea.
I took it march 6 and got a 74. And that was w/o really going over an entire chapter other than watching the lecture. I plan on taking it again the first few days of april. I really hate the IT stuff.
I took BEC in early March as well! Ididnot pass I would start and stop for two week and pick back up again this was all dure because of busy season…workin mad late hours..
I am now planning to retake it in April…
Good luck to every one!!
Remember we are in this together and in the end it will pay off — can't wait for that day!!!
I am taking BEC on April 19th, the day before my Becker audit class begins. I agree with you, south0085, chapter 3 kicked my butt. I have to watch that lecture again, and I skipped the class for chapter 5. I have a lot of studying to do in the next 3 1/2 weeks. Good luck to everyone.
I see where Jeff posted that for BEC study time is 4 weeks @ 20 hrs per week. I am putting in way more than that and still don't think it's enough. Is anyone else using Kaplan?
REG,BEC,FAR - PASS, AUD 70, retake 4/26/11 85
If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
i am going over chapter 3 questions with becker and i feel like a complete idiot because i have no clue how to start these questions or how to figure out what they are really talking about? has anybody gone through the becker chapter three and have had it make sense?
i got this exam april 19 and i am stressing out major now.
I agree that Becker Chapters 3 and 5 are pretty tough. I just kept doing the problems and studying the formulas. If you keep after it they start to seem like they unfold for you better than the first time around. I'm taking the exam in less than a week (4/2) and I think that about 25 hours a week for 4 weeks has prepared me pretty well. However, I am a current student and a lot of this stuff is still relatively familiar for me.
