hey vishvesh - Yeah I have some pointers for REG. Study hard and then pray to almighty god that the test graders messed up and gave you a passing score.

offlineMembervishvesh - i use becker study materials and for REG i did the usual studying - watched all the lectures, did all the multiple choice and supplemental questions several times, did the final exams and progress tests. i was totally surprised by the REG questions i got. the WHOLE exam was ridiculous. i am honestly still shocked i got a 90. i walked out of that testing center thinking i failed because i wasn't focusing on the right material compared to what the exam actually had on it.
i don't know if this helps but my friend is reviewing the final review material for FARE and she said that it mentioned 15 - 20% of MCQ are test questions..which means they don't count!! so i think i might have gotten a lot of test questions. even my SIMS were insane. good luck!

offlineMemberjeff i might be completely jumping the gun here...but when do you expect to have new predictions out? :) since i passed REG i don't feel as pressured to take BEC quickly so i have until feb. to take BEC. i wanna take it and wait the shortest amount of time to find out my score. haha. would i be better off taking it the end of feb?

If you schedule your exam for Feb 7 or earlier - you'll likely be Wave 1 for BEC.

offlineMemberyou're welcome vishvesh. that is a good idea to focus on tax and ethics. i think most of my exam was tax based questions and i did get a decent amount of ethics questions as well. (although every exam is different!) i was surprised with how little business law stuff was on there.
word of advice - definitely focus on chapter 3! that's where a lot of my questions came from! good luck studying for REG!

offlineMemberhaha learningisfun after i walked outta that exam i would have been thrilled if i got a 75!! i think some major scaling and tossing out of some exam questions occurred! oh well...either way..i passed! 2 down, 2 to go. now i need to find motivation for BEC. help =/

BEC is not that difficult - I found that my Becker materials reflected exam very well. One advice - make sure to look through all IT definitions - they test them a lot.

offlineMemberFeb 26th. I planned that date so that I knew exactly when I would get my score back. I hate waiting for my score more than anything. When are you sitting for it? Here's some motivation; BEC is laughing at you right now and calling you names. Are you gonna take that? Are you just gonna sit back and let the examiners laugh in your face? Or are you gonna study and kick it's ass! No but seriously if you can pass REG then you can pass anything, not saying that BEC is a walk in the park because strange things happen when the AICPA thinks of exam questions but obviously it looks like you can knock it out of the park.

offlineMemberyeah sometimes the signature shows up and sometimes it doesn't. not sure what is going on there?! Anna good luck with REG! you were SO close before you will definitely get it next time! i want to sit for BEC before feb 7 like jeff said so i have a better shot of being in Wave 1.
i haven't chosen a date yet which is probably contributing to lack of motivation! BEC isn't bad compared to REG at all so i have more confidence. thanks for the tip Anna - IT is NOT my strong point!!

I'm in my final days of preparing for BEC....taking in next week. I'm finding I'm week on the Econ MCQ's. I'm going back to nail down the demand curves. Do you think I should worry any more about Econ, or continue to focus on the other areas since Econ is supposed to be a small part of the exam?This is my first exam. Taking it early in the window, then I'll spend the next 7 weeks learning REG so I can take it at the end of the window.

offlineMemberconnie i would focus a little bit more on economics if you are unsure of some of the topics since you have some time left before the exam, but focus more on the other areas that are tested heavier. good luck!! come back after you take it and let us know how it went!

offlineMemberThere are so many formulas.......I'm thinking about on exam day, taking a few minutes at the beginning of the exam to write down a bunch of the formulas on my scratch paper. I'm thinking that will help me as I go through the exam, I can refer to my paper and work through the formulas. May stop me from feeling as overwhelmed.
Any opinions on this? As I said before this is my first exam - so I'm open to suggestions and comments!

offlineMemberYou could do that... but, honestly, there are much fewer formulas on the real exams than in your book. I know it's easy to say - but don't get overwhelmed - it's theory stuff mostly.:)

offlineMemberThanks Anna! I'm using Becker and alot of the MCQs work through the formulas. I'm doing quite well on the theory MCQs so that's good news.
I see that you have only one exam left. Good for you! My 5 year old daughter's name is Anna :-) and she is tired of "mommy studying all the time".....my boys are 9 and 11 and they are just tired of me being on the laptop all they time! They have games to play and apps to download, after all! LOL
