Lol, yep, mine (2 and 3.5) are the same way - "mommy, please don't go school/ work etc."
REG (74),(74),(83) => Yaeger HS & Audio

connie just be careful with writing stuff down before the exam!! make sure you go through all the necessary steps FIRST to get to your first testlet of MCQ...then write down the formulas. it may take 5 min or so but BEC is a 3 hour exam and it's only 90 MCQ so you should have plenty of time. i wouldn't suggest doing that for any other exam, though. i know people who have had their exams time out because they had been writing down formulas and didn't follow the necessary steps on their computer screen! so they basically ran out of time before the exam even began!!
anna how do you like the yaeger home study? i really liked becker for AUD and REG i think it was still a miracle i passed lol. so i guess if i passed REG using becker BEC and FARE with becker should be ok, too.
Hey MPoni123 - I didn't get my homestudy for REG yet.
I used it partially for FAR - I think it's great (but i just didn't study much for FAR overall.)
Personally, i think Becker is great for BEC and AUD. These sections have more memorization - and Becker is very good at helping you memorize things.
REG and FAR have many difficult concepts and if you don't have strong accounting/ tax background - you might be struggling with Becker. At least I was. Hope it helps a little...
MPoni123-
Thanks for the tips. I will definitely get to the first testlet THEN do my writing if I decide to do so!
What day in January are you taking BEC?
thanks Anna. luckily i am done with REG and i think becker is good for BEC! so i guess i will have to see with FARE.
connie - i think i might take BEC first week of february! before feb. 7 so i have a better chance of being in Wave 1.
jeff - if i am in Wave 1 for BEC what exactly does that mean? when should i expect my score to be released? (ball park) i am just debating when i wanna sit for BEC. i already got through chapter 1 but that was weeks ago and haven't done anything since. i feel good about chapter 1 because i do tax returns for all those different entities mentioned and i get the jist of it. i have 4 chapters left and tax season for me starts end of january.
soooo...should i take it around feb. 5 just to get it over with...or take it at the end of february to give myself more time?! any suggestions?
MPoni123,,, historically if you test between 01/01/2010 - 02/07/2010 you will be in wave one.... and should get them the third week of Feb..
BEC is not fun..
AUD: 79
BEC: 74,74,76
REG: 80
FAR: 02/10
I'm taking BEC for the third time on Jan 9th. It'll be a long wait for the wave 1 score releases.
I failed the first time with a 70 and the second time last window with a 74. ANY tips on getting that extra point this time??? I've gone through all the questions and have also taken notes. I'm desperate!
thanks NJT. i do wanna take it earlier just to get the exam over with. taking it february 5 will still allow 5 weeks study time for me if i need it and i don't wanna be burnt out while working during tax season and studying.
CantTakeIt - are you using Becker? have you done all the supplemental questions, final reviews, and progress testing?
also CantTakeIt....when you get your score in the mail and on the back it shows where your weaknesses are, are you focusing more attention in those areas now?
BTW...i received my REG score online on December 21 and haven't received my score in the mail yet. AUD i received it about 4 days later!! what is going on?
if i take BEC first week of feb and am in wave 1....that just means that i have to wait ALL of march to retake it in april if i don't pass!!! at least if i take it at the end of february i won't find out until march!!
I'm using Becker to study. I seem to not do well on the exam for the IT section, but when I do the Q's and practice test in Becker, I do well.
I've done about 85% of the supplemental questions and all of the regular questions. Maybe I get too caught up in trying to memorize equations rather then focusing on understanding it.
CantTakeIt-
I'm taking BEC on Jan 5th, so I'll be right there with you on the long wait till mid-February. We can keep each other company.... This is my first exam, and I'll start studying for REG right after I take BEC.
Good Luck to you on the 9th!!
One thing I noticed when I was studying for the IT section was this: I did the MCQs and still couldn't make sense of why I could never seem to get the hang of the questions. I went to our IT guy here at work and asked him to explain some of these concepts to me. He looked over the questions I kept missing and asked me if I even read the questions. He showed me that the answer is usually in the question. So read it carefully and pick out the important words. That's just my $0.02. Also, I got a 72 the first time I took BEC and an 82 this last window using Yaeger! Let me know if you need more advice. This technique came in really handy when I was taking the exam and found questions I had no idea bout.
Good luck!
I've taken BEC twice now, 56 and then a 65. I have my third go scheduled for Jan. 16th. This time I'm using Becker seriously (watch videos, read text at least twice, work ALL of the problems, do the progress tests and the simulated tests) and supplementing with Gleim and Wiley for the CH 3 and 5 areas which are giving me fits. I study Mon - Thur for 2 hours each night and on Sat. and Sunday for about 5 hours. Is there anything else I can do? I just passed the AUD section and have REG scheduled for Apr and FAR for July. I want to be done with this by the end of 2010
I just finished one of the Becker Final Exams and got a 72. Not sure how I feel about that. Any comments?
I took the Becker practice exams yesterday and today and got a 78 and a 68 on them. I know that for REG and FAR my actual score was significantly higher than my practice exam scores.. does anyone know if that holds true for BEC as well??
I definitely think it does! I also got in the 70s on my Becker BEC final exams.
Jeff, I know it's crazy early in the testing window, but you think you could throw some predictions together. Just curious, now that I'm waiting on my last one. Thanks, and good luck to all this window.
for both AUD and REG i only got in the 60s on the practice exams and did MUCH better on the actual exams! so first time around i wouldn't worry about it. i always did the practice exams twice to make sure i understood why i got the questions wrong first time around. i am using Becker and definitely recommend the supplemental questions. the progress testing and simulated tests are good also.
i think i am going to sit for BEC 2nd week of february (feb 12). i finished chapter 1, but that was weeks ago and haven't looked at it since. my NTS expires end of february, so i have plenty of time. would be nice to sit for it before tax season (sit jan 27, but i don't wanna rush my studying. what does everybody else think?
MPoni123 - How many hours do you plan to study each week? You should be able to do it by the end of the month if you plan and stick to your study schedule!
I sit for BEC ....TOMORROW! I have so much nervous energy today. Wonder what I'm going to be like in the morning?!? LOL
I just keep reviewing and doing MCQs......
Good luck connieCPAin2010.......
I got my exam on the 13th...and i am starting to feel a bit jittery already........i can imagine whats going to happen on the exam day....haha
i scheduled my exam for february 12! i only study a few hours a night after work and if i am lucky study on the weekends. i didn't wanna push it and i like sitting for the exam in the afternoon instead of the morning. i am taking it at 3 pm. good luck connie! let us know how you make out!!
Ahhhhhh! My first test is done! I actually felt ok when I left the testing center today -compared to how beat up I felt after doing Becker's practice exams. There were no questions that I was totally blown away by, but several that I had to narrow down to my best educated guess. I feel that most of those where poorly written questions.
I had alot of IT, very few econ. Definitely know your variances, NPV, breakeven.
Now I shall have a glass of wine (or two) and relax until this weekend, when I start studying for REG.
thanks for the tips connie! glad to hear it went well. not sure if you know this, but if you are unsure of an answer, go with either b or c. b and c have each a 30% chance of being right, while a and d only have a 20% of being right!! :) my studying begins today!! downtime at work, so i mine as well take advantage of it!
connie when do you sit for REG? are you using becker? i would focus attention during your review on chapter 3. i had a lot of questions from that chapter!!
nevermind...i saw your sit date in your previous post. 2/26 - you have a good amount of time!
hey jeff....i am using Becker 2009 materials for BEC. i plan on sitting end of january/ beginning of february. think my study materials will suffice? thanks.
i do plan on ordering 2010 material when sit for FARE later on in the year.
2009 materials should be fine for BEC.
Good call on updating your FAR materials.
-Jeff
ok...change of plans!! now taking BEC 3 weeks from today. i am in the middle of Chapter 2 and only need to watch the lectures for chapters 4 and 5. i just want to get this one out of the way before tax season!!! maybe this will be the motivation i need to study seriously!
