Yeah I took the BEC exam last Thurs day and there were a lot of questions that were trivial that I struggled with. I think BEC is the trickiest one of the four. And its kinda of a crapshoot. Rarely do I see someone walking around with a 90 in BEC. If I fail, Imma purchase the Wiley Test Bank and see if it helps. As for your situation, just gotta go through the entire Becker book. For me, there are always parts where I will skim or not read all together because I dont feel it will be very testable. If you're struggling with IT, you should re-read everything in the IT sections. This can be tedious, but if its your only weak spot and you got a 73 the first time, I'm sure this will do the trick and you'll easily pass it again the next time. Keep your chin up.

Try creating flow charts or organizational charts to help you follow the “paper trail” for IT. That's what I did and I didn't have any trouble with IT after that. If Jeff can tell me how, I'll post one in google docs to show you what I'm talking about. I don't think reading over mine will help you much. The real benefit it doing this isn't in reading it, but making it.

Sorry about your score. IT in BEC can be very tricky even when you know the material.

Spend more time in IT this time around make IT as strong or stronger as your stronger areas.

Get the basic concepts of IT in BEC and it will also help you in AUD.

Basic IT concepts such as segregation of duties will help you to bulid a stong base.

Example: The librarian has no other roles in IT except to keep and release the files to users. Test data cannot be a part of the live data, or will your progammer work will live data (i.e payroll)

Again while a 73 is not the desired score, it does show that you have knowlege of the material. Try and write a few paragraph regarding an IT topic and incorporate definition in your writing. This will definately help you in the MCQ as well as you may also get that topic to write on in the written portion of the actual exam. HAVE FAITH and do not second guess your answers on EXAM day.

    YES YOU CAN

I used only the Wiley book and cpareviewforfree.com. I have read where Becker does not cover BEC concepts as well as it does for the other sections. If IT is your weak point, focus more on those and write out detailed notes to help reinforce concepts and make notations for the practice multiple choice questions you missed. Good luck.

Spend lots of time on IT, but don't just do the problems either. For me, one way I studied IT was to create a story that included all the concepts, and I'd try to relate it to my everyday life, even if it wasn't accounting related. Ex. maybe the librarian in the context of IT does something similar to a librarian in an actual library.

    CPA license in progress....
