So i got my REG score last night - 76!!! that means I now passed REG, FAR, and AUD on my first try - which is a huge accomplishment for me! Of course, in between each of those parts I have sat for BEC. I am taking it for the 6th time (thats right, 6) in January and I can really use some help and encouragement. I have been using Becker and have Bisk as supplemental questions and my last score, which was my highest, was a 70. At this point I basically know every Becker question within the first few words of the question. I feel like im on Jepordy trying to answer them....Of course, my friends all found this part to be the easiest - which isnt helping either. One even passed it 2x because his first time expired. Any tips is greatly appreciated.

offlineMemberWhen you start to memorize the answers it'd best to get an alternate source for the questions. I passed BEC using Yeager home study & cram after the initial credit had expired. I had taken FAR a number of times with Becker as my main resource and started to know the answers without reading the rest of the question similar to your experience. Yeager has a different slant on what and how to study from Becker model. I hope this will work for you too. Good Luck,

offlineMemberFor cost accounting you definitely need to understand the concepts behind the questions to where you are able to figure out the answer from a variety of situations. Since you are starting to know the answers in Becker from going over so many times I would definitely recommend to try another source. The Wiley book, though I've never used it, seems to be a good starting point and affordable too. I found the Becker DADS mnemonic very helpful.
For financial management I would really work on the cash flow methods and knowing when to use the after-tax amounts. There are also quite a few formulas that you just have to memorize. I went around with my flash cards and a day before the exam I gave myself tests to where I would pull a card and write down the formula on paper until I got them all right.
I wish a boat load of luck. I know that matters sometimes. I honestly did not think my exam was as hard as the Becker final exams and I wonder how much of that was luck.FAR 86 | BEC 94 | AUD 90 | REG 85

Thanks for all the replys. I have memorized the formulas and underdstand cost pretty well. I kind of feel like I am not getting good tests if there is such thing. My last test had a particlarly random topic (or at least I thought so) and asked 3 questions on it - which was prob the diff between passing and failing.this time I will make sure I really cover everything and I hope that will be enough. If not then I have 2 more tries till aud expires although I would die if it came to that.

offlineMemberRest assured, BEC is NOT the easiest. Don't think it's easy just because there are no sims. It was my lowest score out of the 4. Time should not be a huge problem, but the computational aspect is most substantial in that section, I think. Plus, you have such disparate topics as Finance and IT lumped in there.
The questions won't be too far off from what is in your review materials....if you become very comfortable with those questions, you should have a fighting chance.

offlineMemberIt seems like everyone talks about how the Becker multiple choice are harder than the actual exam for the financial and cost sections. Has anyone used Bisk and how do you feel the those multiple choice prepare you? I'm scared that I will just end up memorizing the multiple choice even though I think I will know the concepts behind them. I bought the Yaeger CRAM w/ Wiley book and I'm not planning on doing those multiple choice at the until I feel confident about what is in the Bisk book. Seems like a good idea in my mind sort of?

offlineMemberbluecrush73 . I used Yaeger Cram, Wiley and Becker for my BEC exam last window. You have to at least watch the cram twice to master the concept. I have seen actual exam questions that have the same concept in Wiley than in Becker materials (they change the numbers etc.). I am not familiar with Bisk but Yaeger and Wiley made me pass my BEC exam. Goodluck!<SMALL> </SMALL>

offlineMemberSome of Becker MC were harder than the exam. Some of the exam MC were harder, or trickier, than Becker.
No matter which course you use, the grunt work is on you. I used Wiley and Becker, and have used Gleim in the past--very crappy for BEC by the way.
Barnes and Noble carries the Bisk book, and i have looked over it briefly. Seems a lot like Wiley. Remember, they all use a lot of the same old released CPA questions
About the CPA exam, it is meant for the candidate to adapt their knowledge and apply it to questions that aren't seen before. If you are confident in your calculations, and can apply knowledge, I don't think any review course is different from the other. I chose Becker because my employer paid for it.
