Ninjas,
My BEC exam is in two days and I do not know how I should feel about this.
On one hand, I actually feel that I am much better prepared for this than I was for FAR, and I passed FAR with an 80 first try. I haven’t felt a strong sense of urgency with studying like I did for FAR- however, I cannot tell you if this is because I am feeling cocky because of FAR, or if I am well-prepared. Roger says that if you score 85% or higher on an actual practice test (timed, 72 questions), that’s good indication that you should pass the exam. I scored an 85 exactly. I’ve been hitting NINJA MCQs pretty heavily the last two days, typically in 30 question increments, and am scoring consistently at 70%. With regards to the NINJA MCQs, I am still in the “assessment phase”. The type of questions I am missing are pretty consistent- typically, IT and Audit related items, and a few equations here and there that I’ve never seen before.
As far as the WCs go, I practiced one on the first chapter with Roger and got pissed off when it graded me at 20% and stubbornly decided it was a waste of time to practice. Roger says that you are graded on how you write, not what you write (as long as it’s “on topic”), so it pissed me off that in my grading, it showed me what I should have written.
At this point, my plan is to just keep doing MCQs and take the exam on Thursday. What do you guys think? Should I worry about the WCs? My writing skills in a formal setting are above average- do I really need to worry about knowing what I am talking about?
I’ve thought about going back and watching a few lectures on the things that I don’t get, but think reading the book may be a better use of my time.
What are your thoughts? How did you feel going into BEC, and how did you do? I know that statistically, BEC has the highest passing rate, but I also know many people struggle the most with it. I’ve also seen a lot of people do worse on BEC than FAR, which is a concern as well.
For now, it’s back to excessive drinking to get me through MCQs until 1 or 2 in the morning.
