BEC IT Questions Frustrating

I am currently working my way through the Wiley BEC test bank. Have found most sections to be relatively easy, however, I am becoming increasing frustrated as I work my way through the IT MCQ’s.

I find myself being continually tripped up by vaguely worded or outdated questions. It almost seems like the IT section has not been updated in a decade or so. Consider the following questions:

Which of the following allows customers to pay for goods or services from a Web site while maintaining financial privacy?

    1. Credit card.

    2. Site draft.

    3. E-cash.

    4. Electronic check.

The correct answer is 3, E-cash. I haven’t heard this term used since the late 90’s. Additionally, none of these options allow a user to maintain financial privacy.

I’m finding way too many of these type of questions in the test bank. I really hope the actual exam (which I am taking in 6 days) is more up to date.

Spent two years as a SAS programmer earlier in my career, so I have a strong IT background. Anyone else out there having a similar experience with this section? Thanks.

The IT questions are very far stretched for an accountant to know. How about the questions like.. what is a type of input check and the answer is edit check I think. Or the roles of the IT people. BEC is a junk drawer or $hit. I told the senior accountant at my job (probably 60 years old, no CPA) what some of the stuff I was being tested on and she said… I've never used that a day in my career.

Lol…”a junk drawer of $hit”…couldn't have put it better myself.

The material truly is all over the place. My analysis for the BEC IT section is that; since the material isn't very deep, the writers use convoluted wording the confuse the question itself. Not sure how relevant this approach is to being a CPA.

Must be a nightmare for those whose first language is not English.

The difference between E-Cash and the remaining three options is the “un-traceability.” The remaining three options usually ask you to put a debit card number, bank routing number, etc. E-Cash does not. Of course, I still have no idea if thats the reason, but thats how I remembered questions like these when I took the exam.

Even now, I ask myself why the exam is asking me questions from issues dating back decades. Business Law on REG is killing me, and I have about 4-5 days left to get it!

Your reasoning makes sense, however I still find the question to be very tenuous. Good luck with REG!
