    NINJA Question –

    Hey all,

Recently returning to both here and CPA study. Took far using becker, ninja notes amd audio last winter and did not pass. I was left unhappy and at many times confused with becker but happy with ninja material. Since then I took an extremley unorthodox approach and starting using and expensive tutor who helped many of my coworkers (midsize audit firm) pass the exams. He seemed great and made a lot of material simple. He also cut out things he says rarely appear as he has been doing this for over 20 yrs. Now I have his notes, still have active becker, anf ninja. Econ, IT, and Corporate governance dont seem so bad when reading the tutors notes but because I am not the best in math I dont always grasp calculation questions and have hard time memorizing formulas. I plan to start cranking out questions next week and hope to take BEC at the end of August. Just seeking some advice. And also, has anyone bought Jeffs BEC book? And for those of you using becker, between becker and ninja mcq which is more like the exam? I am basically very nervous due to a past fail, so much info, and little study time.

    Thanks in advance,

    Zach

    Hi, Zack –

I am also interested in this topic.

I am currently studying BEC with Becker.

I passed FAR and AUD using Becker and supplementing with Wiley test bank.

I thought the Wiley interface was most like the actual exam, and the questions helped me learn topics in addition to what Becker covers.

I have not used Ninja MCQ, yet. I am trying to decide between Wiley and Ninja MCQ to supplement my Becker for BEC. I really like using 2 test banks (Becker plus something else). It has worked so far, so I plan to continue.

I'm REALLY torn between Wiley and Ninja for the BEC test bank. I've had success with Wiley so far, so I'm skeptical to switch, BUT, Ninja is less expensive and I preferred the Wiley before CPAExcel bought them. But, overall, those aren't big differences, so I'm still deciding.

Let me know what you decide to use and how you like it.

P.S. Just a tip on learning formulas – I did this for FAR –

Handwrite a formula over and over and over again on a page of paper – just like you did in 2nd grade and had to write “I will not talk in class” 100 times or so on a page of paper.

Write the formula and do a ridiculous amount of MCQ on that topic – back to back. All in one day or week.

I guarantee it will stick in your brain. You'll be able to do them in your sleep.

It's time consuming, but it works. – Less time than retaking exams over and over again.

    FAR - 86 - 2/27/14
    AUD - 75 - 5/29/14
    BEC - 80 - 8/31/14
    REG - 89 - 2/27/15
    Praise Jesus! I'm done!!

NINJA is less-expensive, has more MCQ, and has adaptive learning technology (it learns what you don't know), if that helps.
