Taking BEC on Friday. For Chapters 4 (IT) and Chapter 6 (Project Mgmt, etc) I have merely skimmed the book and done MC. I am fairly comfortable with the multiple choice. I’m using Becker. Will that be sufficient for the exam? Are the MC similar? Also, any pointers on the writing section?

I took BEC last Thurday (praying I get my score this week) and I also use Becker. I didn't get a ton of IT questions (thank goodness) but I've seen post where others got a ton of them so there's no way of knowing. The Becker MCQ where much longer and have more extensive calculations that the actual exam but the wording on the exam sometimes threw me. I took about 30 minutes on average per MCQ testlets and had a good amount of time left for the writing section. I actually finished the writing section with about 40 minutes to spare but went back over each memo and reread them for grammer and clarity and I'm glad I did since I was able to clean them up so hopefully that paid off. If you haven't done any Sims I would at least read thru what Becker says is a great answer to the sims to get a good feel for them and then do the ones in the final exams. Although Becker doesn't grade them – that frustrated me! The Sim on the actual exam seemed easier than Becker. The first one gave most of the info I'd need, less so on the 2nd and the 3rd one was mostly recall. Based on some other posts I may have gotten lucky or maybe the combo of all my studying, MPA, 2 BS, 12 years of management, 1 year of auditing & tax work plus the 2 years at my current job as an accountant for a bank played a part. Hopefully I'll know soon – the wait is killing me!

For the written portion, do it as a typical memo style: Introduction (1-2 sentences), body (4-7 sentences), conclusion (1-2 sentences, restating the intro statement)..

I've nailed the writing everytime. Just have issues with MCQ that I'm still workin at and plan to NAIL on 8/29. 🙂
