I would love to know it too!
Me three. I am planning on taking BEC the 1st or 2nd of July if I get my NTS soon.
Jeff, I saw that you had econ notes for BEC available and that others would be coming soon. Do you know how soon, and what subjects? TIA
Ness - my study guide will cover everything in BEC eventually...before July is my goal. I will be releasing a section of AUD notes tomorrow.
Took BEC last window and passed. Concentrate on IT because they are heavily tested in the exam. You should also know Cost Accounting and finally memorize the formula in Financial Management. It would be a dual purpose if you memorize the formula because you will need it in Auditing too. I used Yaeger and it helped me a lot to pull some points to pass the exam.
Thanks All for your reply. Suzzette1 Congrats and Thx for the input.... I am planning to take BEC on July 29th.
Is Becker Material sufficient to study for BEC? a lot of ppl feels that Beckers material are not good enough for BEC? any input will help :) Thx
I used becker for BEC and ended with with an 85 (and i barely knew any of the cost accounting formulas). While the becker stuff is very good for most of the material (especially IT), i feel as though it wasnt all that great for Cost Accounting. It may have been becuase I was kinda giving up studying at that point, but for some reason it didnt seem to be as helpful as it could have in that section.
I only used becker for BEC (just read the book and did the m.c. questions- did not watch lectures) and scored a 92. So I'd say it was sufficient for me:) There were definitely some questions on my real exam that Becker didn't cover, but I wouldn't use another study program just for the sake of those questions (only 3-4 in total). My advice for BEC- definitely know your entities but you really don't need to concentrate on economics (chapter 2, I believe)- skimming over the material should be enough if you took the right courses in college. I spent a lot of time on that chapter, not realizing how little it was worth (8-12% I think, check the outline) and was annoyed at myself after.
Hello every one. I am a new candidate for the CPA will start my first exam by taking BEC. Any advice on what is the best material to use for that course ?
Thank you so much all
Ellithy,
If i were you I would go to youtube and look for samples of the teaching style. Every person is different and you know how you learn. that way you can make an informed decision on which course to use...Becker, Bisk, Gleim, Rogers, Yaegar..etc. I didn't know to do that but I was only given the option of taken some courses in community colleges or Becker. I chose Becker which is expensive and the software expires in a year(unless...you get creative), but i didn't have to pay for it the state of illinois did.
Also since you haven't started in case you are unemployed...IDES here in illinois paid for my exam, il bd fees, and becker under a program named POET. I was told that all states have the program to help the unemployed gain a certificate. Just in case this is something you can use!
magic_8_ball_did_i_pass,
I do live in the chicagoland area and am interested in the "POET" program you spoke about under IDES for folks who have been recently unemployed. I have searched on the IDES and all over the internet to no avail. Do you have a link or could point me to a website with info please???
Congrats on completing the CPA Exam!!!!!!!!!!! I hope to be walking in your shoes soon.
