Do you think we could hold the California Board, as a whole, responsible for this violation of the 8th amendment?

Do you think we could hold the California Board, as a whole, responsible for this violation of the 8th amendment?
8th Amendment: "Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."
hahaha, funny, lisalovely123
BEC Attended: 08/22/2009 13:16:00 (score pending).
I cannot take staring at that sentance any longer... Thank god I actually have some work to do this afternoon.
I feel ya kristyhana...mine doesn't even say score pending like it usually does.
CBT Exam Attendance received from NASBA.
BEC Attended: 08/29/2009 09:39:00
CBT Exam Attendance received from NASBA.
REG Attended: 08/15/2009 09:01:00
Weird. Mine actually says this, which makes it even more painful to look at:
CBT Exam Scores released.
AUD Score: 92 - Attended: 05/26/2009 15:37:00
BEC Attended: 08/22/2009 13:16:00 (score pending).
FAR Score: 88 - Attended: 04/25/2009 12:41:00
REG Score: 85 - Attended: 07/18/2009 12:40:00
I've had it show up (score pending) and I'ved both passed and failed.
Two times it never showed (score pending) just went from "Attended" to a score. First time it did that I passed. Second time I got excited thinking it meant something like the first time, and I failed.
No rhyme or reason to it, just the CA BOA website being screwy I suspect.
I'm confused about what Jeff said...I got my FAR score in August wave 1 before the NASBA release. I got it early in the morning on the 19th Wednesday. Why are they lying!
Mine is telling me
CBT Exam Attendance received from NASBA.
AUD: Schedule/Attendance Pending.
FAR Attended: 08/18/2009 15:17:00
I have attended AUD before FAR on 08/12/2009 though !
I really do hope that CA BOA will release the scores once NASBA does tonight. Just praying CA doesn't have its own IT problems.....
Come on CA! This was a looong weekend! don't make it a long week!
Well, the BEC result for NASBA states are out as well as other independent states other than CA. Hurry up CA BOA!!!!!
This ia absolutely ridiculous! I have been waiting forever!!! Took my test on Aug 8th and i NEED MY SCORE NOW. I am so fed up with this system it's ridiculous! Does anyone know if the CA scores will FOR SURE be posted tonight? Grrrr. I have spent way too much money on this test to experience this kind of treatment and inconvenience.
I guess this is what happens when you live in a state that is bankrupt.
Haha I am so glad not to be living in Cali anymore...however I am still taking the exam as if I were still a Cali resident! What really is driving me crazy is some of my people from work (in KY) received their scores last Thursday so I have been dying to know what my results are since then...I am going insane...hopefully we know tonight, otherwise my co-workers are going to kill me as I am driving them crazy too!
Seriously.....
....what is the hold up? Californians never have to wait this long...it's driving me up a wall!
The way things are going for those of us waiting in CA - I would not bother waiting to get your score tonight.
If no score tomorrow - I suggest we all call the California Board of Accountancy (916-263-3680) and ask why it is taking so long as NASBA has already released the second wave BEC scores. Maybe they will get tired of all the calls and just release the scores or fix whatever IT issue they clearly are not aware of.
Myself & a group of Californians did that today but unfortunately nothing!!!
Yea I guess there isn't much else we can do...especially since yelling at my computer screen is not helping and I am totally missing the Monday night football game with my obsession of refreshing the CABOA webpage that is obviously not getting updated tonight....boooooooooooo
However if you guys are still willing to do so, you can call the exam unit directly at 916-561-1703
F5 has never been such a great friend ever since I started waiting for my exam scores and updates haha
I am so pissed right now
getting ready to call again tomorrow...last time i called the lady just told me that she hoped to have them all posted by the end of September. Useless...
ugh-nothing yet! I thought for sure they'd be posted today!
Just thought I'd let everyone know... Murphy is in full effect and we will probably get our scores soon. All I have left is Audit (pending a score) and Financial (have to take again) and I was waiting to "select my exams" for my audit score to come back. The anxiety just got the best of me and I registered for Financial... so now the scores will probably all come back today or something and I'll have a 74 on Audit and be kicking myself as I write another $50 check.
Let me get this straight...CA is an independent state and *should* release prior to any NASBA states. According to the person Jeff talked to at CA BOA, CA waits for the NASBA release and scores are automatically posted on the CA BOA website as soon as NASBA releases the scores. While the information is conflicting, it still gives the impression that at the latest, CA will get their scores when the NASBA states do, or at least by 6:00 am the next day when they update their website everyday.
So, can someone please explain to me why Independent and NASBA states have their scores for both BEC and REG, and we are still in limbo?
astutegirl, I believe the long and short of it is that we don't know and that several people have tried calling the CABoA and NASBA to figure it out. It appears that a popular answer from the CABoA is that it will be posted by the end of September and that NASBA deflects all blame to the state, saying they have done their part.
All this waiting is grueling!
I just called NASBA and spoke to their CA rep. He told me they had an IT issue and scores should be up this afternoon. Lets hope he wasn't just trying to get me off the phone.
Well, either way, there goes my afternoon! :)
Well there ya go, we were waiting for the CA rep at NASBA to get back from vacation after all, lovely. I better pass this test after all this waiting. If I have to go through another wave, I'll shoot myself.
That's government for you. "Let's schedule a vacation right in the middle of scores releases when I know that I will have to actually do my job." If I tried to take vacation in the middle of busy season, my director would laugh in my face.
If scores are posted this afternoon - I beat Jeff and won this prediction (NASBA CA Rep returning from vacay).
Seriously - how can they get away with taking a vacay in the middle of a score release? No wonder how anything gets done in government???
I can't wait until the government runs healthcare! Need surgery? Sorry, your doctor went on vacation the day before your surgery was scheduled. You'll have to wait until he gets back.
Speaking of doctors, I think I should go see one. I may have sprained my pointer finger from a week of pressing F5 incessantly.
If we could convince Jeff to tweet when someone informs him California scores are posted, it would make my life a lot easier because I get his tweets directly messaged to my phone.
This is insane. If they say this afternoon, that might mean in another 2 days, if not another week. Gave up on hitting f5 a long time ago......
California is sucking in my book right now... We should definitely have our scores by now. Very lame. At least I know now that I am not alone.
Wow... Great... Wonder how hard it would be to receive the scores electronically and display them automatically. They make it sound like this is some sort of rocket science...
I just spoke with the CA Coordinator at NASBA (who just returned from vacation). He said there was an issue with the attendance records for those who sat for the exam on August 10-12. I sat on the 11th so of course I was impacted. They tried sending the file several times, but it did not work. He did confirm that NASBA received my score on 9/16 (but was not able to share what it was). It is frustrating since it was released almost a week ago and has been in limbo due to system issues. He was going to talk to his supervisor and see if they can resend the file to California's systems.
I suggest everyone calling and speaking to the CA Coordinator at NASBA (800-272-3926) to let them know there is an issue. They said only a couple of people have called so it seems it hasn't been raised to a level of concern.
I sat for the exam later in August (25th? Can't remember) and I haven't gotten my score yet. It seems no one in CA has. So it's not just those in the Aug 10-12 window they are having issues with.
I am aware - I am just saying they identified an issue with the attendance records for the 10th-12th and this issue is likely related to why CA is having trouble receiving the score.
Thanks for the tip StressedCPA. I will call today.
You are correct stressedCPA.
I took my exam on 8/11 and the NASBA guy told me the same thing. This is why my exam account still says "schedule with Prometric" even though I took the exam in August. They told me it should show that I at least attended. I'm sure that the 10th-12th issue has something to do with the late release.
Thank you Stressed CPA... but the problem with the attentance should not have affected REG scores. And for some reason the REG scores are not being posted by CA either. I will give him a call too.
Well I don't think we are in a position to determine whether the issues are related or not, the fact is the scores are not out and they should be since NASBA confirmed scores were released to CA on 9/16 for BEC. The same issue is going to affect REC, AUD, and FAR.
I'm sure it does have something to do with REG scores. I took the AUD section in 8/11, not BEC and when I called NASBA they told me they are having issues with ALL exams taken August 10-12. Like I said mine still says schedule with Prometric. Therefore it's all parts of the exam not just BEC.
I am so irritated at this whole process... they give you 18 months to pass all four parts, but then take forever to release scores. (AICPA still has not released AUD or FAR) Then there are IT issues... and to top it all off the CA BOA lost my application, and it was sent to their "off-site" so I lost the oppurtunity to test in May because of their un-organization. And there is not a darn thing I can do about it. (expect sit here and rant about it)
CrossfitChick - exactly - as I previously said "The same issue is going to affect REC, AUD, and FAR. "
Chill. I was just confirming by sharing what I was told... Everyone go have a beer at lunch!
:) - this whole thing is a nightmare
No kidding. This is my last section (AUD) and if I don't pass I lose REG. They were so quick to show on their website that REG has expired for me but can't update my freaking attendance. Sigh
LOL... I am going to have lunch with my 2 1/2 year old daughter... so no beer for me... But now that I got it out, and there is nothing I can do (I called and left a message for our cordination, just letting him "know" there is a problem and I sent a message to NASBA via twitter) So now I can focus on wrapping up these audit work papers!
I just figured out how to check my score from my blackberry....that's bad now I can refresh all day without even logging into a computer! I am so OCD after this waiting!
Really? I don't even see my BEC score...
Maybe we should contact CA BOA.
email: examinfo@cba.ca.gov
telephone: (916) 561-1703
fax: (916) 263-3677
Doubt they would know anything or they would even care...
They have added the AUD credit to me before one hour,
I expect to receive the BEC score shortly,
but who know's ??
wishing you all the best
I called CA and they claim all scores before september ends. This is BS.
Just called NASBA. Worthless. "We've been releasing scores all month. They are not released in any particular order. You should receive your score by Oct. 15th." Totally worthless.
I too California's advise and talked to a male staffer who was extremely short with me. The # is (916) 561-1703. I was real polite and he was getting defensively stating that he was on the task force to get california to be independent and blah, blah. I point blank asked him if we would get scores today and he said only once a day. He also said that we would already have them in our client account. I also point blank asked him if any California REG scores have been released and he said no. He also said that they did not have the scores yet, and that it is a "big deal" and that being are talking a lot behind closed doors about how to fix the situation. in a nutshell, there is something larger going on, technically, and i think they are in a jam. That is why they are saying end of the month, cause they don't even know themselves. I said it would be helpful if they were just forthright and explained their situation on the BOA website, and not keep silent about it, as they are doing. It makes everyone think that they're incompetent.
I recommend every one calls as much as possible, and be a thorn in their side and force them to fix this situation now. If they have to call everyone one up individually and give us the score, then they should. After all, they have our contact info.
They are out of their minds... It's not even funny anymore.
So, people in CA got REG score this morning? And we're still waiting on BEC? WTF?
That's exactly what I am talking about.
