In traditional information systems, computer operators are generally responsible for backing up software and data files on a regular basis. In distributed or cooperative systems, ensuring that adequate backups are taken is the responsibility of:

    A. user management.

    B. systems programmers.

    C. data entry clerks.

    D. tape librarians.

    (D)?

This material is so ridiculous. The other 3 sections are at least applicable in our profession. Stuff like memorizing IT terms is so stupid. Feel like I'm back in marketing and management in college again where I took exams over definitions.

@Tarheel — Good luck on your upcoming exam. I think I might push my exam date back just a week. This being my last section I want to make sure I'm fully confident going in like I have the others. And as we all know you only get 1 shot at this thing every quarter so you got to make it count. I don't want this damn exam hanging over my head going into April. Want this thing done and put to bed.

I need to glance over the WC aspect of this exam since it's different than the others. I'm interested to see how much time you should set aside for it. Being 3 hours and comprising 15% of the exam, mathematically 27 min or ~30 min would suffice = 10 min each WC. Heck I don't know.

I'm going to say A. Just sounds good.

I still haven't scheduled mine yet. I want to finish the Becker book and lectures by the end of December and then give myself a few weeks to review. So I'm looking at early February. I won't waste a test window but the less prepared I feel, the later in February I'll take it.

@Angel — I kind of operate under the same logic as well. What sense is there to rush an exam if you only have one shot at it in a quarter. The only reasons would be a) you're crunched for an expired section or b) you're trying to fit another exam in the window.

I'm going to circle back around to cost again today. Do my normal purchasing of Ninja MCQ when I'm done with my regular material (CPAExcel) and hit Ninja all the way home until exam day.

@bobcat – Thank you. I just scheduled my exams this morning and still haven't received my score report for BEC. I figured 4 weeks of studying would hopefully help me gain 5 pts. I am studying everything again but won't know my weak areas until my score report comes in. For the WC, I left an 1 hour to do mine and it was ample time. It is just the 72 mcq questions take a while especially being half the exam is calculations. I thought I was going to run out time and not have enough left for the WC but I ended up with an hour left. That was enough time to reread all 3 and check for grammar and spelling errors.

I'm changing my answer. It's D: Tape Librarian Becker refers to them as File Librarian but their role is to store and protect programs and tapes from damage and unauthorized use.

That was my second guess, D.

The correct answer is actually A – here's the explanation they gave:

In distributed or cooperative systems, the responsibility for ensuring that adequate backups are taken is the responsibility of user management because the systems are under the control of users.

In distributed environments, there will be no systems programmers comparable to those at central sites for traditional systems, there may be no data entry clerks because users are typically performing their own data entry, and there are no tape librarians.

Finally got my score report today, got Comparable in Financial Management, Strategic Planning, and WC. I'm shocked on the WC because I am so not a writer and pretty much BS all the way through each one. Therefore keep bringing on the IT, Economics, Corp Governance, and Cost questions.

A software tool used for ad hoc, online access to items in a database would most likely be:

    A. a query utility program.

    B. an application generator.

    C. a report generator.

    D. terminal emulation software.
