Just got finished with Audit and feel pretty good about it so I'm moving to BEC. Hope to take it in early January. This will be my first time taking it. Any pointers or heads up that may help me in my studies. I'm not even sure I really know what the topic matter is for this section.

Sure it's not like FAR because of the quantity of material, but this isn't just read through and understand once, which is sort of what I was hoping for =/

Used Becker online. Who needs a text when you can burn your eyes out staring at the screen for months on end?
"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you're hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"
December 2, 2014 at 3:30 am #655106AnonymousInactiveHas anyone else gone through b3 in the Becker material and noticed that they added two pages whole pages of formulas ( in addition to the ones in the back of the chapter) on the DuPont Model for ROE. I think learning this is completely ridiculous considering its and extra 5-6 formulas that becker does not even have any homework questions on it and was just recently added to the material in the November update. Does anyone think we should focus on this? I feel like B3 is hard enough without adding in extraneous material
Also, I am finding that there is wayyyy too many ratios to remember. Does anyone have a mnemonic for the most common ones?
December 2, 2014 at 6:36 pm #655107undeniabletwins2ParticipantHiya to all studying for BEC, great study group so far. I attended my first BECKER LIVE CLASS IN CT FOR BEC. It was ok just like university when I did my masters degree, slides and homework. The structure is nothing new to me.
Awaiting my results for AUDIT and studying for BEC and work and the kids I am a juggler what can I say. All the best with your studies. Hoping to schedule BEC JAN 10-15 who is with me?

No they are not the same:
Simply put, a Systems Analyst works with End users in solving problems related to computers and IT. They work with end users to see if the current software programs (or hardware) being used is meeting their needs.
A Systems Developer will design, maintain, and create the actual programs (or IT Systems) needed to meet the end users needs. However, in most large companies, they don't work with the end users.
I like to think of it as the Analyst works with the End Users to understand their needs. The Analyst then explains to the Developer what the needs are, and the Developer creates new software or system needs based on the info from the Analyst.
However, many times in smaller companies, the Analyst and Developer role can be performed by one individual.
Hope that helps.
December 3, 2014 at 6:04 pm #655109thelawnwranglersMember@undeniabletwins2 Same here regarding Becker except I am in NJ. Peter Olinto actually did the first one. I think it might have been a one time deal.
I am waiting on REG results. I scheduled BEC for January 5th, but will push that back if I failed REG. Thought process being I don't need to take the exam Jan 5th so that I can start Financial if I have to circle back to REG.

December 3, 2014 at 9:28 pm #655111mrgriff21MemberSo going through the economic concepts portion of CPAExcel and it is really easy…to the point where I can do the questions without even reading the material just because I remember it from econ classes however many years ago.
This worries me because I have a feeling that the exam will be much harder and require a more detailed understanding.

Just updating everyone on my progress and reminding my self in the process. Attended my 2nd BECKER BEC class yesterday. I was surprised to see a different lecturer (A Lady) for B2. She talks very fast but overall it was ok. Have some catching up to do before Monday. I have classes Mondays and Wednesday's 6pm -10 pm. With a 10 mins break. Hoping to review B1 and B2 before B3 starts so I don't get left behind.
Praying for a pass on December 9th in AUDIT to give me some motivation. I made sure I full my day with things to do on Tuesday so I don't think about the score release. Dental appointment at 11am, twins parent conference at school at 12:30 to 2pm and kids have half day school.
But who am I kidding we all know we going to be checking all day to see our scores. I even checked today…stupid me.
Bye to all happy studying. I am here reading the comments even though I don't post often.

December 5, 2014 at 10:52 pm #655113AnonymousInactiveWhy do I feel like this section is like my college marketing/management courses where I'm not even learning anything and just memorizing useless definitions and acronyms for stuff I'll never use or remember in my actual career?
December 6, 2014 at 1:50 am #655114syoung123MemberIs anyone else still cramming for BEC this window? I have my exam tomorrow at 8 am. Only got through half the Yaeger material, but I'm just wrapping up a graduate managerial accounting course. I'm hoping it and knocking out a bunch of MCQ's tonight will help.
Trending 73% – so it looks like it's going to be a squeaker either way. I was about the same going into FAR on 11/23, so I'm going to be on pins and needles the next 10 days waiting on both of these scores, that's for sure. At least I will get my FAR score on Mon/Tues!
REG (July 2014) - Pass
AUD (Aug 2014) - Pass

DONE!!!!
December 6, 2014 at 2:32 am #655115AnonymousInactiveStting for BEC 1/3. B1 wasn't that bad… B2 sucked badly. Scored a 56% on the first homework attempt like I always do the first time 🙂
In my opinion, the worst part of this exam process is
1) waiting for your score
2) starting a new section your lost on scoring in the 50s/60s when you've been getting consistent 80s/90s for progress tests a week ago for a seciton you just tested on
December 6, 2014 at 2:42 am #655116GotCPAParticipantDecember 6, 2014 at 2:42 am #655117AnonymousInactive@Blackhawks — Looks like we're both on the same timeline. Waiting for score in a couple of days and finishing with BEC first weekend next month. This particular section is so freaking random compared to the others.
