I'm completely bombing the mcqs. all the conceptual questions make sene to me, calculations on the hand are worded so poorly that I can't get the correct formula to use.

Just wanted to compliment on how great the lectures and notes are for the B1 and B2 MCQs in Becker. LOL

Honestly, what a waste of time watching these lectures let alone even reading the book so far as majority of calculation problems are completely out of left field. Thanks Becker

Just scrolled up after my last post and noticed we're all on the same page. My strategy is to just read through the e-book and master the MCQs on my own from doing them nonstop.

Definitely different than what I've done for all the other sections, but it seems to be the best approach after completing the first 2 chapters.

@Blackhawks — that's what I've done for every section thus far. Chapter then MCQ over and over and over.

I might be the odd one but I've never watched lectures, practiced SIMs, took notes/flashcards. Chapter + MCQ is all I've practiced.

At least with this section there's no SIMs. I am a bit puzzled on how long I should leave for the 3 WCs though. 15% of grade = ___ mins?

@Bobcat87 I think i'm going to replicate your approach considering that rewriting the notes seemed pretty inefficient and useless for the BEC chapters thus far.

All this computational shenanigans for BEC 1 and 2 in Becker is hammering the MCQs

Anyone with input on another good site for study materials for just MCQ that you can get per individual section? I have ninja, but am looking for supplemental material b/c I feel like I memorize answers at times. Anything relatively cheap? Thanks

    AUD (PASSED) - 56, 91
    BEC (PASSED) - 80
    REG (PASSED) - 68, 74, 77
    FAR (PASSED) - 78

I used the Yaegar Wiley Test Bank to supplement the MCQs and Sims in the book.

I just took BEC this past weekend.

I used Yeager CPA Review and the Ninja Notes and flashcard. The flashcards are great for on the go. I studied on the go using my smartphone.

My suggestions to all of you is to really study the information technology section, Cloud computing is new and they are testing for it so understand all of the elements of Cloud computing and the control environment of a organization. Understand elasticity of demand. Which Jeff said was going to be on the exam and it was. Spend time doing as many multiple choice questions as you can, you will be amazed how similar the information on the exam is to the multiple choice questions. I actually think that some of the questions actually came from the Wiley review book and the NINJA MCQ.

I'm having trouble with material variances. I can't remember when you're supposed to use the estimated cost/actual material or actual cost/estimated material. Does anyone have any tricks for sorting this out?

    Exam:I'm done 🙂 🙂 🙂
    REG - 71 (2/22/14); 67 (4/3/14); 74 (8/29/15); 83 (2/29/16)!!!
    BEC - 72 (5/24/14); 85 (1/3/15)!!!!
    AUD - 72 (8/23/14); 76 (10/15/14)!!!

Started in 2013 using Kaplan and failed REG, REG, BEC, AUD. Switched to NINJA suite in Sept 2014 and passed AUD...then BEC...then FAR!
REG took 2 tries but I finally got it in too!
I'm a hard convert - Using NINJA method with NINJA video/book/notes/MCQ

I found out today I failed BEC with a 72, so it's back to the drawing board for me. I'll register for somewhere around February so I'm not going crazy with year end and study. What a disappointment. Oh Lord, help me pass this exam in my third try. I know Cost Accounting and Economics were my weak areas. Maybe I'll focus on restudying those first.

    FAR - 50, 78
    BEC - 67, 72, 75
    AUD - 72, 80
    REG - 70, 85

To God be the glory! Forever, amen!

CPA2B_NJ: First of all, I'm sorry you didn't quite make it. I, honestly, can't imagine what I'd do if I didn't pass right now.

Since you have experience with the exam, what areas do you recommend to focus on for a first timer? You mentioned Cost Accounting and Economic Concepts being your weak areas so are there any particulars you thought were more heavily emphasized than others? Also, what materials have you been using to study? I've been using Becker almost exclusively and it's pretty overwhelming.

Thanks and good luck with your next go around.

FULL FORCE!!! BEC JANUARY 31st…LETS GOOOOO!!!

    AUD - July 2014 - 76
    REG - August 2014 - 82
    FAR - November 2014 - 78
    BEC - January 2015 - 81

    DONE!!!!

Used Becker online. Who needs a text when you can burn your eyes out staring at the screen for months on end?

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you're hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

CPA2B I am joining in this group for my 3rd attempt with BEC as well. I also got a 72 last time too, but I felt so confident going into it, I scheduled REG. Now, I feel like I am starting at square one again with BEC. Lesson learned: focus on one exam until I pass, then schedule the next.

We've got this! I'll probably study a little bit right now as work will allow, but I won't really hit the ground running full-speed until after the New Year. We can do this!

    REG - Passed
    BEC - Passed
    AUD - Passed
FAR - Passed!!!! I have my life back.

I am back for round 2 with BEC. Found out I got a 69 on my last exam. I feel like I don't know where to start studying. Guess I will just jump into MCQs tonight. I had a ton of calculations on my first exam, so I will go over all of them again to be completely comfortable with all the calculations. I made flashcards for majority of the calculations, I'll start reviewing them now at work. Then move on to understanding more IT terms, economics, and Corp Governance.

Good luck to all taking the exam at the beginning of January. We will PASS this time!!

    FAR - 46, 79 (7/8/14)
    AUD - 56, 59, 2/23/15 3rd times a charm!
    BEC - 69, 74 Really??
REG - April, I hope. Fingers crossed!
