BEC Studying without using lectures?

I wanted to schedule my test closer to the end of May but am going to end up taking it the 15th (only possible open date for me).

That leaves me about 22 days, of which I assume 4 will be lost due to unavoidable stuff (like graduation). That leaves 18 days. I am basically done with Section 1.

Leaves me 18 days to get through Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, WC and Review. I feel like I really don’t have time to watch the lectures, review the book, go through the MC, and then review again at the end.

For Becker, has anyone skipped watching the lectures? I figure I could get through the homework by spending 2 hours reading/taking notes on the chapter and 7 hours doing the homework (2 days total). That would leave me with about 5 days to review and put it all together.

Okay, sorry for the jumble of thoughts. Main question: do I really need to watch the lectures on Becker?

Make time to try to get through all the lectures, they do lay a useful foundation for understanding the material and giving you an idea of what is going to be important for tackling the MCQ's.

Honestly you still have plenty of time to tackle BEC. Just throw every last minute you have at studying and you should be prepared.

I didn't use Becker, but I only used lectures on topics I had trouble with.

    Hey Guys,

Need your advice on BEC studying material. I have taken the test twice and I am taking it again in 5/28/15. However, my BECKER material expired and paying another 595$ really burns for material. So far I have NINJA Notes, book and MCQ. I also have Willey MCQ from 2014. Do you think it will suffice? Would you recommend investing another 595$ or other more affordable study material? Also, anyone familiar with Gleim materials?

    Thank you!

I studied BEC by only doing ninja MCQ's and listening to Ninja Audio

We will see how i do on May 5th. I am also fairly good at cost accounting so not sure how much that helps. I loved the material and got the highest score in my cost accounting class.

@CPAdone that is totally enough material to study. If you do fail it wont be because you didnt buy Becker material it will be because you didnt put in enough time with the material you have.

    REG-77
BEC -Waiting on score May 5th
    AUD - May 30
FAR - Q3 depending on if i pass above two in Q2

Okay, thanks. If that is the case I should ideally have all 6 sections finished by May 2nd – 4th, which leaves me plenty of time to review before the 15th.

Also, on an unrelated tangent, I got my NTS for BEC, AUD, REG (waiting on FAR scores). I used the exam code for BEC and booked up but how long can I wait to book the other two? It says you should book 5 to 7 days after receiving the NTS, but I don't have a score for FAR yet so it makes it a little bit tough to know what/when to schedule.

    FAR 91 - 04/16
    BEC 87 - 05/15
    REG 77 - 07/27
    AUD 92 - 08/31

As for booking, the problem is that you run into dates you want are all filled up. I think I've read of people booking a day or two before but who knows whats available at that point.

Re: your BEC exam, if you feel prepared on May 15, take it for sure. if you need more time you may find dates closer to the end of May have opened up.

Is studying for the CPA your only obligation right now?? Getting through all 6 sections in 10-12 days is more than ambitious.

Yeah, all I'm doing is studying. Flying out of the country on the 22nd (so wanted something closer to that date).

I don't expect to understand everything in the 12-14 days. I realized from studying for FAR though that it makes no sense to over focus on any one area until I get an idea of how it is tested (through MC/actual questions).

At least for me, what seems to work is to go through material multiple times in different ways so that it sticks.
