I failed BEC 2 times and both times I had written communication Weak. I am using Becker but it doesn’t give me a score for the writing. Is there any courses that give you the score for the witting? and how does everyone studying? and any tips?

First time, I didn’t study for written part and felt good on MCQ after the test. I had comparable and some strong for MCQ but writing was Weak. Score was 67. I had 45 min for written part.

Second time, I read some tips here and wrote more. Test was harder than first time and took long time to do MCQ. Score was 64 and I had 25 min for writing and only finished 2 of 3.

I made sure to have 3 paragraphs, keep sentences short since I am not a native speaker, tried to use as much key words in the memo. I know what I want to write but it just difficult for me and each paragraphs usually end up with only 3-4 sentences.

I have a feeling that you are being hit hard on grammar rules. One thing that I notice from your post is that you drop articles. Articles are “the” and “a”.

[The] First time, I didn't study for [the] written part and felt good on MCQ after the test. I had comparable and some strong for MCQ but writing was Weak. Score was 67. I had 45 min for [the] written part.

If I were you, I would probably type up some sample responses and have a native speaker review them.

Turn the readability statistics on in Word, type your answer, then run the spell check. You will get a list of statistics including a reading ease score. You need to be writing on a 12+ grade level. Keep working at them until you get there. You can do this!

I took BEC 3x and I did not study for the written portion at all. I scored “comparable” every time though. My suggestion to focus on your format (intro, thesis, two supporting paragraphs and conclusion) and grammar. Throw in some key words regarding the topic and you should do better next time around. I had topics where I had no clue what it was, but I guess my format was decent enough to do ok. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Thank you for the suggestions! I started to copy and paste my answer to the Word and noticed that I always omit ”THE” I even went through my posting and added some THE after I wrote the post here. Thank you for fixing it. I will keep writing more on Word!!

Also, instead of the 3 paragraphs I will try separating intro and thesis and explain in 2 paragraphs then conclusions.

I feel like I need to study MCQ more so that I can get enough score to cover my writing part. Thinking to take one on January.

    Thank you for the helps!!!

Honestly, I don't think my written communication context was necessarily ‘correct', but I made sure everything was spelled correctly and I tried to use key words that related to the topic. If you are not the best writer, my advice is keep it simple. You do not need to add fancy words or characters (for example ; : ). Just keep it simple. Short sentences with key words that start with a capital and end with a period are perfect sentences.

Never start a sentence with ‘and' or because'.

And in your conclusion, make sure you specify you are summarizing what you've said above.

Copy their language when you can. For example, if they ask you to address the different ways xyz can have an impact on supply and demand, reiterate what they are asking for in your sentence. First paragragh: “x can have an impact on supply and demand in several ways. (insert ways)” Second paragraph: “y can also have an impact on supply and demand”. Third paragraph: ‘Lastly, z can have an impact on supply and demand”. Then have a nice summary final paragraph reiterating what you said above and call it a day!

    A - 75
    B - 78 God is good.
    F - 77 Answered prayers.
    R - 84! Done!!

Paperwork sent - waiting for license!!
Still on a cloud and in shock. Through God, all things will happen.
