I am on Becker Auditing 4 Transaction cycles…I am finding that most of the homework problems do not directly align with the lecture….so I am getting most of the questions wrong. Can anyone provide guidance as to how and what to do? Did you have a similar experience to mine or was it going well for you? Thank you.

It's a notoriously annoying chapter. Given I failed (albeit by 1 point) and I'm retaking tomorrow, my answer may not be as good as someone who passed, but what I've done is mostly make sure I understand the flowcharts, the segregation of duties, the different documents/what they are/what their purpose is, and just practice the questions really. Even doing this however, some of the MCQ you do really leave you scratching your head.

Take some comfort in the fact too as you go through that ridiculous 100 some question set on Becker that your actual exam may really not include all that many questions on the topic since there are other topics to cover, and even then the questions you get on the topic may not really be as convoluted as some of Becker's (not to say they won't be convoluted though… but you know).

I have been doing pretty well on the becker hw until A4 Transactions. On the section with 117 questions, I am averaging 51% and am 61 questions in :(. This is my last test and I really want to be done before tax season. Any thoughts if I am okay/advice? I passed the other tests on my first try but have left Audit for last since I am not a fan.. no numbers.. lol

I'm in the exact same boat as you. Just gotta keep redoing the Q's. I've moved onto chapter 5. Want to get the chapters done asap and just do as many MCQ's as I can to practice.

    Yeah Audit is so annoying!!!
I was so bored myself that I stopped watching Becker's lecture after A3 and did only MCQs (Becker's & Ninja's) for about 3 weeks!
Got 81 at the exam 🙂
    Good luck!

I have the EXACTLY SAME feeling as you do. My brain is about burning by this ridiculous chapter. I think @str6116‘s suggestion is a good one.

I am writing Audit on Feb 29th. I started Becker “final review”- the extra course, and it is amazing. After finishing the 6 Becker Chapters, I felt like I looked at everything but didnt know how to link everything together.
I don’t think Tim Gearty is a good instructor. Mike Brown (I think this is his name) does a much better job at actual teaching, rather than getting you to memorize.

If you want to tighten up all the loose ends and learn the concepts in a nice tidy format, buy the extra “final review” course offered by Becker. It is totally saving my butt.

In my honest opinion I think Becker is terrible for understanding the concepts of transaction cycles. I spent WAAYY too much time studying them and didn't see any on the exam (not recommending skipping it). To understand the transaction cycles you cant just memorize the mnemonics becker gives you IMO.
