Becker AUD MCQ questions too easy?

I know this probably sounds kind of dumb, but in my final reviewing stages where I’m doing hundreds of MCQ a day, I’m getting the feeling that the Becker audit questions are too easy compared to what I’m going to see on the exam.

As much as I’d like to believe it just means I’m in good shape, the fact that I’m getting 90% on each lecture isn’t leaving me nearly as confident as I’d like to be. Did anyone who took audit and only used Becker feel like the questions on the actual exam were much harder, or was Becker alone more than enough to prepare you?

    FAR: 86
    AUD: 88
    REG: 85
    BEC: 84
    DONE!

Since you're doing hundreds of questions a day, I imagine you're running into some of the same questions multiple times hence making them seem easier overall.

The progress tests are simply pulled from the homework for each lecture, so if that's what you've been using, you'll have already seen them at least once in the past.

That said, the average I've seen is 10-15 points higher on the actual exam in comparison to the Becker final exams.

I am definitely finding the audit questions easier to master than the FAR questions. I score in the 80's on my first time around for most sections. With my work experience background I am finding the transaction cycle questions to be relatively difficult. My guess is the questions on the exam aren't going to be much more difficult if it is anything like FAR. They will try to screw us on the Sims.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

You're likely memorizing the questions now. Find another set of questions to practice. Either buy the Wiley test bank, google AICPA released questions for AUD, or try cpareviewforfree.com. You may find your % drops a bit which would mean you truly had memorized the questions you've been doing.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

I strongly encourage you to buy the Wiley Test Bank. Per Jeff, WTB licenses its questions from the AICPA and my experience has been that they are more representative of the types of questions you will see on the actual exam.

I passed AUD with Becker first time around but my homeworks were all in the mid 80's and I scraped by with a 75. IMO, Wiley does a better job honing on the conceptual being tested. You need to expand your pool of MCQ's and WTB will do that.

    AUD - 75*, 88 done 5/14! (*exp)
    BEC - 74 , 77
    REG - 65 , 76 (10 point combooo!!)
    FAR - 69 , 75

If it fits into your budget, I would definitely try a different test bank (or book that includes questions) to confirm. Going into my audit attempt with Becker I was completely dominating the MCQs and got a 70. I'm working towards my next try and using Wiley test bank now and finding the questions much harder than Becker's. Becker served me well with BEC, REG, and FAR but I have doubts about it for AUD.

    FAR 73, 71, 83
    AUD 66, 70, 86
    REG 82
    BEC 76

Just took the first practice exam with Becker and got a 78, so if the 10 point boost stays true I should be ok if I keep reviewing for the test next week. However, I'm still not sold because of the conceptual nature of the questions. I think I might focus less on MCQ the rest of the way than I had planned on re-read the pass keys and review my notes.

I thought there may have been a danger in going to MCQ heavy for audit with Becker and it looks like you guys agree. Not sure if it's worth buying a different test bank 4 days before the exam. If I still had a week or more to go I'd consider it, but with only a few days, I think my best bet is to just review notes and concepts.

    BEC: 84

I am planning to redo every Becker questions 3 days before the exam. Either that or every cpaexcel question. I have not spent any time on notes this time around as a way to see what works best for preparing for these things. I start from scratch tomorrow with cpaexcel because I am taking their class for credit towards the new California educational requirements.
