Has anyone ever gotten a 50, 67, 53 and still managed to pass FAR?

I did my calculation (60/40) and it comes out to a 56 just like the above three number. If i add 10 points, that is a 66, NOT GOOD!

I will say I know 60% of the conceptual questions well especially GOV/NFP (like 80% sure here). Do i still have a chance? I just get tripped up on all the different calculations (pension, dollar value lifo, bonds, etc.)

    you mean a 57 67, and a 53 on the 3 MCQ testlets, respectively?

I got: 50, 67, 53 for each of the 3 testlets on the final exam 1. pretty bad.

Right now, just trying to get more used to these leases/bonds questions, I really get choked up on them. :/

yeah bonds arent too bad when you actually sit there and read it. dollar value on the other hand is a bunch of crap

I scored a 61 and a 59 respectively on my two final exams.

Ended up with an 86 on the real thing.

Lesson? Learn from your mistakes quickly and focus on whatever else you can learn before the exam. You can do it!

If I use my line of best fit, a practice score of 56 corresponds roughly to an actual score of 74. I don't have a lot of samples with low practice scores so it's possible this is somewhat inflated.

Nevertheless, you're not too far away. It's definitely possible, but you really need to nail down your weak areas now. I suggest making a list of a couple of topics that you know you're bad at. Work through them again.

(EDIT: Also, I just realized that you didn't do the SIMs. That's likely to bump you up a couple of points. Advice still applies.)

here are the results from my first two practice exams:

First exam-took it first week in August:

    i got a 67% on first to test lets (20 correct) and a 70% on third (21 correct)–which is 61 out of 90 correct for a 67%

sims- 3 of them were above 70%, one was above 50%, 2 were above 30%, 1 was 0, and research was 100%.

    second exam- took today:

First Testlet was an 83% (25 correct), second was 70% (21 correct) and third was 73% (22 correct)

sims- 4 were 100% (not counting them to be this simple on actual exam) 1 was an 89% one was a 67% and one was a 34%

how do i figure weighted average out?

Justletmepass, thanks for giving me hope. I dont think im even going to attempt final exam two since I only have today and tomorrow to re-practice my low areas, I continue to read my flashcards then do practice tests on those weaker chapters. Hopefully I can score better. I appreciate it 🙂

jamesBjames, i actually did the sims, but somehow i still came out to a 56 when I did the 60 * mcqs avg, 40 * sims avg. I am really hoping i do well, i hear there's a lot of gov/nfp questions which i'm a lot more comfortable with.

jstay, you take the avg of your first three testlets multiply by 60%, then the avg of your sims multiply by 40%, add those results together, add 10 points. lol something like that , looks to me you're way better off than I am with my 50s and 60s.

General question — about how many hours did you put into studying for FAR? I am taking mine 10/15 and plan on about 20 hours a week. I work a very demanding full time job and was wondering if about 140-160 hours is enough?

You scored higher on the second one, that's a good sign! You are doing better than me.

Did you add those 10 points at the end like I told you? after you took your avgs? People usually tend to score about 10 points higher than their becker final exam scores. Usually, not always.

yeah taking into account the “10 points” its a 76 and 88 but still, thats not guaranteed. i made stupid ass mistakes when taking the test. questions i should have got right. and on questions where i threw a hail mary and hoped for a correct answer, i got a correct answer. so idk how to think about it. i should have gotten atleast 4 or 5 more questions right on the second exam. it really all comes down to the test you get on exam day, if you can get one in your favor, it shouldnt be “bearable”

Exactly it's a luck of the draw. It all depends on what you get!

Hey @kpb, my scores were 57, 53, 67 for practice test 1. Don't get down about it. I did even worse on the REG finals. The practice tests are valuable because they give you a fresh set of questions, but I don't think they have any bearing on reality.

thanks caroline. I appreciate your encouragement. I am trying to review the areas I know I am having trouble with. Hopefully this extra look at them will help gain a better understanding.
