Becker Final Review as a learning tool

As you can see I’ve been wrestling with FAR for about a year now. I feel that I have a pretty good, basic knowledge of the material. I’ve been so busy with tax season and other family matters that all I’ve been able to do is maintain and keep the material fresh (studying on average about 10 hours a week). Now that I’m on the home stretch for busy season, I decided to purchase Becker’s Final Review for FAR. It seems pretty well laid out. I’m planning on taking my re-take of FAR at the end of May.

My question is, should I use the final review now (book/test bank of about 250 questions) to really hammer home the important stuff, then continue with just Ninja MCQ/Notes up until exam day? Has anyone ever used Becker Final Review for FAR? Or should I rewrite Ninja Notes and continue with Ninja MCQ (currently trending 73% with a little more than half of the MCQ finished). Kind of struggling on how to tackle this re-take.

    Thanks for your advice.

I have used Becker Final review for AUD AND REG. Both were great supplements to the Becker material. I would say AUD really did a good job at bringing everything together.

My suggestion is that you start the Becker Final review about 2 weeks to 10 days from your actual exam. The lectures and all the MCQs/SIMS will take you about 5 days or so, assuming you can study for 3-5 hours a day. You will be “reviewing” during the final review course, so you will cover what you would have reviewed anyway, but I would still leave the last 4-5 days before the exam going over the stuff that gave *you* the most trouble/memorizing whatever.

The lectures were very valuable….I assume you bought the course and have access to the lectures?

I work full time and have a family, so studying 3-5 hours everyday is not feasible at all, unless I take time off of work. I had the full Becker review course, but it just expired. My materials that I have now are Ninja MCQ, Ninja Notes, and the Becker Final Review for FAR. I feel like this should be plenty to help me pass.

After giving it some more thought, my tentative plan right now is to rewrite my Ninja notes on the areas that I am not 100% confident on. Then, rewrite those notes again. After this process, I was planning on hitting the Becker Final Review and taking the exam shortly thereafter. I have to pass FAR at the end of May.

I used Becker Final Review for FAR starting about 3 weeks out and I finished with one week left. The areas I didn't really grasp 100% I went back and listened to the full lectures in order to ensure I had reviewed that information as much as possible. I thought the final review was exactly what I needed to get me a passing score. I didn't use any Ninja products (sorry Jeff) but I did consider it. I was just accustomed to the way Becker was laid out by the time I needed something extra.

    Good luck!
