Becker Flashcards or Ninja Notes

    Hello everyone.

I’m studying for my first section FAR.

I’m currently using Becker. I have been reading the chapters, taking notes, reviewing my notes and then working all the multiple choice questions.

I feel like I need extra help remembering what I studied in the past chapters, what would you all recommend with your past experience to be most effective?

The Becker Flashcards or the Ninja Notes? Also, is the Becker Final Review any good.

And last, I’ve been doing good on the multiple choice questions, however I’ve been struggling on the simulations, any advice as to how to better prepare? or a software in specific that you used to improve in this area?

I may have asked too many questions…

Thank you all for your help in advance. (:

I didn't get the Becker flashcards, but I did use the Ninja Notes for both Audit & FAR while using Becker. For the price, the notes are definitely worth it and you could easily make your own flashcards by referencing the Ninja Notes. Since it is recommended you rewrite them anyway, you could just rewrite them as flashcards rather than just copying it onto paper.

I also didn't use Becker's Final Review, but I did buy the Ninja MCQs and used those as my final review. Since they utilize adaptive learning, I thought it was very beneficial since I could focus on my weaker areas. Also, it is significantly cheaper than Becker's Final Review. Some of the questions overlap with Becker, but I thought it was very beneficial. I passed both Audit & FAR the first time using this method.

As far as the SIMs go, I'm going to be honest and say I didn't do many of them (I did do all the Becker sims just one time through). I just focused on really knowing the material and because I was confident with the material, I didn't think the sims I got were actually that bad. I ended up finishing the test almost 45 minutes early (I have, however, been a fast test taker my entire life, so results may vary). If you want extra practice though, the Ninja MCQ comes with a ton of extra sims to do.

A lot of people like the Ninja notes. I got both and personally preferred the Becker flashcards. I didn't like that I had to find which section in Becker corresponds to which part in the Ninja notes (it doesn't follow the same format). With Becker the FC are already matched to the sections in the book. I also liked that the FC were more detailed, felt more like a review of what I just read. With Ninja notes I had to fill in some more information that I thought was important. A lot of people on this forum find the Ninja notes very useful so I was surprised they didn't work out for me. I only tried Ninja notes for AUD so maybe they are better for other sections. You can make your own FC as well but I found it easier to just have the FC made for me already and then to rewrite them. I also love using the mobile app to review whenever I am at the gym, train, on a line, etc.

I used both of Becker's printed flashcards and the Final Review. I found both of them to be incredibly beneficial to my studying and in passing.

I am not the person who can sit down and write notes and rewrite notes constantly until it sticks in my brain. This method works for many people, but it tired me out. The flashcards were like my mini-notes. I used them constantly to rehearse the core concepts in each of these chapters. From what I have noticed, if you nail the concepts on the flashcards, you have a solid foundation to answer about 90% of MCQ. Now, this means you need to actually KNOW and UNDERSTAND the concepts on the cards, not just memorizing the content. That won't do you any good.

As for the Final Review, I was skeptical of it initially as many people said it was unnecessary. It is a broad overview of the major concepts in a condensed book. But when I was running out of time to review Governmental and NFP, I turned to the Final Review. Instead of having to work through 60+ pages of F8 and F9 each, I was able to cover these two critical chapters in about 30 pages total in just the Final Review. The FR does a phenomenal job of tying everything together, so if you can get your hands on own, I highly recommend it.

I too hardly practiced simulations. I just made sure I knew how to use the AL for the Research question.

Overall, you don't these two resources to succeed. But they are helpful if you do get them.

I'll keep mine short, sweet, and to the point.

I used Becker flashcards. They were okay. They were good just to read over but do not spend too much time with them if you end up getting them. I would focus more on the M/C. As for the final review, do not make the same mistake I did and think it was going to be some new software material…WRONG! It is just a summarized, smaller book for each section. I used it for a couple sections… but I wouldn't say $150. Focus a lot on M/C with Becker and write down information when you are wrong.

Edit: Sorry that was the old “final review” so ignore that section.
