I am prepping for BEC portion and a little worried about my low percent correct on my first run through of the homework portion of Becker. My scores have been anywhere from 46% – 60% on that first run through. How were your scores? It has me a little bit rattled. Also, to any that passed, but started out with low scores as well: How did you attack the material after your homework run through?

I just took BEC so I dont have my score yet to relate, but for Audit/FAR I was always around 67% and as you can see I got in the 80's for my score.

BUT, and a big BUT, as long as you are learning what you got wrong, and why you got it wrong, you will be okay. It's all about what you take from the wrong answers. You could either say, okay its wrong and this answer is right…..or you can say okay this is wrong BECAUSE, and this is right BECAUSE. If you can do this, you will be fine.

    F - 89 8/13
    A - 83 12/13
    B - 87 1/14
    R - 82 4/14

I recently passed BEC with an 80 and I can say that I rarely got above 65% on the multiple choice questions. I don't think it really matters how you do on those questions as long as you learn from the explanation given after you answer the question. The technique I've used is to take notes more so on the multiple choice questions/answers and less on the lectures. As kadubadizzle mentioned, I think it's important to understand why the wrong answers are wrong and not just what the correct answer is. It takes more time to go through the multiple choice questions if you are doing this but so far it has paid off for me.

    REG: 78 (5/31/2013)
    AUD: 59 (8/31/2013); 81 (10/8/2013)
    BEC: 80 (12/5/2013)
    FAR: 2/28/2014

Thanks for the responses! The way the program I am doing through my school, we watch the videos together and then are required to complete 90% of the homework. I have been just doing the homework and reviewing on my second go through to get to that 90%. The pace is pretty insane, I just feel like I am spending so much time doing the questions I am not retaining as much.

Dont stress too much about your homework scores. I was always 50-65% the first time through. Keep working the MCQ in 20-30 question increments. Even if you get a question right, make sure it was for the right reason and not a good guess. For BEC, make sure you know your variance analysis.

    Reg - Passed 82 Nov 2012 - Becker
    Aud - Passed 86 May 2013 - Becker
    BEC - Passed 88 Aug 2013 - Becker
    FAR - Passed 88 Nov 2013 - Becker

I am also in the same boat. It's my second time and still scoring in 60-70%.

Cost Acct MCQ are so lengthy and hard. Hope actual exam is not that bad..

    Good luck!!!

I am bumping this post back up because it took me forever to find some interesting conversation about this topic. I am in the same boat with scoring low on my first run through of BEC! It really is frustrating! Finding this post really gave me a little more motivation to keep pounding through these MCQ with all these formulas!!!!

Do the lecture, take the mcq. If you score poorly (60 or below) go back to the chapter and look at the “must know” topics again. Redo mcq and check your score again. I find that you should be able to hit 75+ eventually. Then move on to other sections.
