    Becker Question –

Do all of you do the many homework problems for each chapter? It’s literally taking me 4 to 5 hours just to go through about 35 to 40 questions, and there are about 150 questions for each chapter.

I just did Income Tax Accounting problems from FAR 6, I'm 40 problems through and it took me 2 hours…I am having the same feeling. What freaks me out is that if you want 1 hour or more to do the SIMS, you need to do the MCQ's, with no break, in less than 2 minutes per question. I averaged 3 minutes per question and I felt like that was faster than normal (compared to Pensions this morning, which took me 2 1/4 hours to do 23 problems.

Kinda intimidating. I still do them all though because the more you do, the easier it seems to become at picking up what each question is asking and how to attack it. The more the better in my mind.

    FAR - (8/2012) 87
    BEC - (11/2012) 86
    REG - 73 (retake July 2013)
    AUD - 71 (retake April 2013)

Same here – I take forever to do the MCQs worst the sims. I feel I need an hour for each sim and to add to that exam is next friday.

    AUD 87
    REG 82

Just to ease some tension, I just took FAR a month ago and was worried about the same thing you all are. The good news is that out of your 90 MCQs on the exam, only a handful of them will be the long, tough 5-6 minute questions. The majority will be conceptual and you'll be able to figure them out in a minute or less.

I'm a relatively slow test-taker and used about 45 mins per testlet on the MCQ and about 90 mins on the SIMs. I turned my test in with 1 minute left but had sufficient time to complete everything and review it before turning it in.

You'll be fine! Just keep plugging through and you'll be prepared to take it!

    REG (5/31/12) - 90
    FAR (7/12/12) - 85
    AUD (8/23/12) - 91
    BEC (10/13/12) - 85

I am also a slow test taker and know time will be my biggest battle. @Haldius that is good to know, hopefully that carries to the rest of our exams! It is frustrating when you get those ridiculous mcq that have 25 numbers in them and a bunch of distractor info. I feel they can adequately test your knowledge and not have to make the questions that ridiculous

@Beavis– it does carry over to other sections. The becker BEC questions were insanely long and took FOR EVAARRR to do, but the actual test questions were much more straightforward. Same goes for REG. I don't want to say that there are no long and complicated problems on the exams, because there are, they are just the tiny minority.

During test day, I've found that what helps me the most is to read the last sentence of the question first and then go back and read the rest of the question. If you know the material well enough, reading the last sentence can really help you work the problems more quickly because you know what you are looking for and don't end up reading through all the distracting info.

    REG- 53, 91
    BEC- 88
    FAR- 62, 85
    AUD- 85

    Ethics- 93

I struggled getting thorough the multiple choice questions in Becker the first time through. I started studying for FAR in November 11, but after 4 chapters I was so discouraged and decided to save this test for last. I started studying for this section again July 1st and the amount of information seemed insurmountable. However, I pushed through slowly, section by section and finished all of the sections. I then went back through and worked MCQ for all of the sections a 2nd time. It seemed like I forgot everything at, but at some point the material all started to come in to focus for me and I started to be able to work the questions much faster.

    AUD - Oct 2011 - 79
    BEC - Feb 2012 - 84 (seriously thought I failed this one)
    REG - May 2012 - 84 (hmmm.....do they actually grade the SIMS???)
    FAR - Aug 2012 - 80

I must be dreaming.... am I really done!!!
