Becker Question –
Anyone thinking of doing it in April-May 2014? I did the FAR & AUD last year and it worked out, thinking of doing REG at the end of April. Last time no one i talked to had heard of Ninja notes, but I let them know how much i loved it.
It would be cool if some other Ninjas were there!

I'm interested in more details of your FAR & AUD experience. What did you like/dislike? Did you use any other review methods prior? Did you attempt FAR or AUD exams prior?
When did you sit for the exams?
My concern is that it will be too much information in such a short time.
FAR: 65,49,61,74,78
AUD: 65,68,64,78
REG: 56,77
BEC: 75February 11, 2014 at 4:55 pm #543453yamarMemberI'm interested in more details of your FAR & AUD experience. What did you like/dislike? Did you use any other review methods prior? Did you attempt FAR or AUD exams prior?

If you're expecting a real classroom experience with in depth discussion into all subject, look elsewhere.
They basically have an instructor (mine were great) who has a tablet hooked to a projector and they go over a PDF of the book you have in front of you.
They go through it and tell you what to circle, underline, what to concentrate on, what isn't heavily tested, etc. They go over the material very fast and don't explain a lot.
They will stop and explain on some subjects that they deem important, or if you ask them to clarify on something. It's pretty fast and intense though. You don't absorb a lot, but if give you a good starting point.
Then you go back to the hotel and work on multiple choice questions until your eyes bleed. The classes are only MWF from like 8am to 5pm with a break for lunch and some 15 minute breaks in between.
They have independent study sessions and instructor led sessions at night and on the off days. Basically study halls, everyone is pretty quiet and mainly keeps to themselves. The professor will usually help in person,. by email,. or by phone.
I had two different professors, one better than the other. Both very smart with tons of real world experience. One actually used to audit a client that i now audit.
The best thing it did for me was give me time away from work and personal distractions. It made me push myself to get a sections work done because the next day we were moving on to the next. It's not really a teaching course, its a review course. But they will teach you subjects if you ask, and help you understand stuff you are already familiar with.
I took FAR and AUD and they were right in line, FAR ended one day and AUD started the next. Going back I may not have taken two sections in a row. I needed more time after FAR to finished homework. So i barely did any AUD work while i was there i just took really good notes and paid attention in lecture but only did FAR work when i got to the hotel.
I passed both FAR and AUD with just a little more study time after i got home. I don't think i would have passed without taking the class. It was my first time taking either exam. I had no prior study time with either of the subjects either. But i do have some real world experience. The only exam i took prior was BEC, and that was literally 2 hours of study time, and just to get a feel for the exam experience, I got a 70 with 2 hours of study time. I plan on taking that one last, and not taking Becker, just winging it on my own+ninja.

April 10, 2014 at 6:54 pm #543433payfieldsParticipantI took the same combination last year and if i could go back i would have only taken FAR. Even the instructors will tell you its nearly impossible to finish all of the HW by the end of the section, so taking another section right after was real tough. I ended up going to the classes and taking notes but still concentrating on the FAR stuff and doing that homework for the next section. Then i took FAR and passed, then went back to the AUD stuff and studied for a couple of weeks and passed that one too. Having a break in between sections is much easier, but I wouldn't expect to immediately be ready for both sections at the end of the course unless you have done a lot of studying before hand.
I'm only doing the REG section this time. One section is enough material at one time, then ill study for a few days after and take the exam.
Good luck though, it's a pretty good course, just be prepared to spend ALL your time outside of the actual lectures in your room or the study hall doing hundreds of multiple choice questions.
