I just started studying for REG. Finished up R1 today. What are they hardest chapters in the Becker REG book? I know it’s different for everybody, I’m just trying to get an idea. Thanks!

    BEC: (4/2012) 88
    AUD: (5/2012) 91
    REG: (8/2012) 82
    FAR: (1/2013) 78 🙂

For me, R1 & R2 were the easiest, but that's because I'm fairly familiar with individual tax. R3 was hard for me, and I'm definitely going to have to go over that again and again. R4 was medium. For some reason I really get partnership taxation, so that part of R4 was easy, but estates really confuse me, so that was hard. What was not easy, but in fact very annoying for me was the section about federal tax procedures and the legislative process. It wasn't hard because it's difficult, it's hard because it's very boring.

As far as R5-R8, I would say they are medium with spots of difficulty (for me, the whole signatures and negotiating instruments thing still is not straight in my mind). The law stuff is a ton of information, the homework questions are a lot wordier, which made me more tired when I was working them. Honestly, the NINJA notes are a lot more helpful to me with boiling down the law stuff than they are at boiling down the tax stuff. The last 4 lectures only make up about 20% of the exam, so I'm trying not to get bogged down in the law stuff during my final review.

    REG- 53, 91
    BEC- 88
    FAR- 62, 85
    AUD- 85

    Ethics- 93

R3 was the hardest for me by far. Suretyship and Creditors Rights (I think R7) also was difficult. Know that REG is the section I feel least comfortable with. I seriously recommend supplementing with Wiley Test Bank

    FAR - (8/2012) 87
    BEC - (11/2012) 86
    REG - 73 (retake July 2013)
    AUD - 71 (retake April 2013)

Its not really that hard.. just so much material to focus on when you get to R5-R8.. so many small details.

REG: PASS || BEC: PASS || AUD: PASS || F: SCORE PENDING..

I took REG yesterday, only studied with Becker, and I will honestly say that Becker doesn't cover enough. Even if it had been an open book exam, I couldn't figure out how I should have answered some of the questions, MC and SIMS, when I went back last night to see what I should have done! And as far as MC goes, it was at least 50% BLAW…and not one of my SIMS had drop downs…all calculations and one research 🙁 My advice? Do LOTS of practice calculations. Definitely where I got killed. Darn SIMS! Oh, and I ran out of time to really spend what I needed to on the SIMS.

I think partnership would be more detailed and calculated. i don't know if it's the worse.

Edit: I'm not using becker sorry.

    It begins with a 75

@Cndgoose – Thank you for the advice. I'm sorry to hear about your experiences on exam day, but I will bet you did better than you think. I am 3 for 3 in walking out of exams POSITIVE I failed, but then passing. The CPA is such a test of mental toughness, keep at it.

@tcincy – Thanks, I will try and focus in on those areas.
