“BAE – BAE!!” i already took FAR but that, i cannot get out of my head haha.

I was wondering how many of you passed by using Becker only? Is it enough to study Becker alone? I realized that many of you use more than one source. So I’m thinking i didn’t prepare as much for FAR (Although i know i studied FAR with Becker like crazy!!)

I just took FAR and the MCQs were fine but SIM.. just no comment..:(

If I’m doing a retake what study material do you recommend additional to Becker?

Thank you for sharing your wisdom

    FAR May/17/15 - 70, 78
    AUD Aug/19/15 - 80
    BEC Nov/17/15 - 78
    REG Feb/24/16 - 78

Becker selfstudy + NINJA 10 point combo
Patience Practice Persistence.. & You'll get there!

I CANT BELIEVE I'M OFFICIALLY DONE. *Tears of joy*

I only used Becker, and most of my coworkers only used Becker, but I would definitely recommend looking at other review material if you fail a section. Getting exposure to different questions is pretty important. I've heard good things about Roger, Gleim, and the NINJA material.

    FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
    AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
    BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
    REG: August 29th, 2014 - 88

Becker is sufficient in my opinion even though I failed few times. But it is about how diligent you are with your study schedule!

Becker self-study, Wiley Test Bank and books, Becker final review. NINJA MCQ bank and NINJA notes for BEC only!

    AUD - PASSED!
    FAR - PASSED!
    REG - PASSED!
    BEC - PASSED!

I only used Becker for AUD. It was also my lowest score but I'll freely admit that I didn't study as hard for AUD as I did for FAR, BEC or REG.

I used Becker for 99% of my FAR studies and NINJA for the last 1%. FAR is just such a ginormous section that extra review material didn't help me as much in my opinion. I know that this sounds backwards but there is so much material to review that too much review material actually gets in the way of good studying. Instead I just mastered one topic at a time.

For BEC I used Becker and NINJA MCQ pretty equally and plan to do the same for REG (finishing up my 6th chapter of 8 of lectures first and then I'll be hitting NINJA hard).

The bottom line is that Becker should be enough to pass any section of the exam. But supplementing Becker with a test bank like NINJA can be really beneficial.

Not done yet, but for my first two exams, AUD and FAR, I used Gleim and eventually switched over to Becker for BEC and REG. I found that there was a lot of detail in Gleim that you didn't even need to know, especially for BEC (I used Gleim half way until I got frustrated and then made the switch), and I just got overwelmed by the amount of information. Mind you, I really went for Gleim because it was wayyy cheaper than Becker and I didn't have time to go to the Becker classes and be all involved in that kind of way. Gleim is more of a self learn type of material.

At which point I transfered to Becker and never looked back. I think Becker does a great job at covering the essential information you need to know rather than wasting your time with everything else. And whether we like it or not, I also think the lectures are pretty well done too (even if we highlight everything).

With that being said, I think it all depends on your style of learning and how much information you are comfortable in knowing. Both material are great sources, btw. Just depends on you.

    AUD: DONE
    FAR: DONE
    BEC: DONE
    REG: DONE

IM GOING TO BE A CPA!!!!!

I passed on one attempt each only using Becker. I could bet if I used Ninja my scores would have been higher, and if I didn't pass one I planned on buying Ninja for the second time around. Becker is definitely sufficient, but I've seen some great posts referencing Ninja to help them jump the 75 line

    AUD - July 2014 - 76
    REG - August 2014 - 82
    FAR - November 2014 - 78
    BEC - January 2015 - 81

    DONE!!!!

Used Becker online. Who needs a text when you can burn your eyes out staring at the screen for months on end?

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you're hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

Thank you guys so much for taking the time and sharing.

But i feel like Becker didn’t prepare me well for Simulation. It was awful. I wanted to stop the clock and sob for an hour then continue with massacres. It’s my first section and my score is still not out yet.

I think i might look into NINJA then. It might help me better comprehend the concepts so I’d perform better in SIM if i didnt pass FAR

    FAR May/17/15 - 70, 78
    AUD Aug/19/15 - 80
    BEC Nov/17/15 - 78
    REG Feb/24/16 - 78

In my humble opinion, the review course you choose has little to do with how well you're going to do on the Sims. For the most part, I think Sims are a true test of how well you know the material. I do think practicing Sims is valuable, but really only to the extent that you need some experience solving questions to which the software doesn't give you the right answer hidden among 3 wrong ones. Creating the right answer requires an entirely different recall and problem-solving strategy than merely selecting the right answer from a, b, c, or d.

People say the Sims are all about luck. Either you get “easy” ones, or you don't. But what's easy for one person might be difficult for someone else. There is no universal agreement as to what is an easy Sim or a hard one beyond the general structure of the question, i.e. I think most people would agree that the long, convoluted questions with multiple tabs of info to sift through are much worse than the research questions or a small table that requires 3 or 4 basic calculations. But even with the long questions, once you figure out exactly what you're supposed to be doing, they're not difficult if you understand the topic at hand.

I did very few Sims in my prep for FAR, but I knew the material (and most importantly for FAR, I knew how to do journal entries), and I only got one Sim that was even slightly out of reach. Having had similar experiences with my REG and AUD Sims, I think the only silver bullet for Sims is mastering the material. If you did fine on the MCQs, then your review materials were probably more than adequate for the Sims, as well.
