Becker users how do you approach the last two weeks of review?

Good morning to all of you. This post is directed towards Becker users. I am taking BEC November 24th and officially started my prep this morning before work. I am trying to follow the ELL approach to studying promoted by Jeff which I think is working well so far lol (first time doing it today). My Becker schedule has me doing 2 chapters a week except for this week and I believe week 3, which I believe is manageable. My questions is how do you approach the last two weeks of review after going through all the Lectures,MCQS, and Sims for every chapter. Do you redo all of the MCQS starting from chapter 1? Rewrite the ninja notes? Do progress tests? Any input helps as I would like to implement the techniques that worked for others in my study regimen for this section. Thanks

I redo all questions from all sections that I have marked. A few days before the exam I take Final exam 1, write down what i got wrong, study and retake it the next day. Next day i take Final exam 2, write down what I got wrong, study and retake the next day. Then I do practice tests on all chapters to get me ready for the randomness of the exam.

    Good luck.

I redo all of the MCQs, but that is because I am not working and I can (and do) study all day. I redo each of the sections' questions once more, and take progress tests along the way (no more than 30 questions at a time). Once I'm done with that, I move onto the Ninja MCQs and do more questions until test day. That way, I get a fresh set and don't have to worry about having memorized the answers versus the concepts.

    REG - 87 (Becker)
    AUD - 96 (Becker & Ninja MCQs)
FAR - 85 (Becker, Ninja MCQs, Audio and Blitz)
BEC - Last one! Waiting on score release 11/24!

I started studying Saturday for BEC with Becker, and I will take the exam November 10th. And I work full time. I'll have roughly a week for review, maybe a little more. Honestly I would say go for a day of review on each chapter. Then schedule roughly another 2-3 days on top of that in order to give yourself some cushion. Anything more than that and I'm pulling out my hair because I want the test over with. I guess it doesn't help that this is *hopefully* (REG score pending) my last exam, so as soon as I take it I could be DONE studying. However, if you have that long for review, then definitely use it.

In terms of what I prefer, you have to do MC combined with reading through the book. Also, you HAVE to do the 2 practice exams, they contain new questions so they really test your knowledge of the material. I see more value in reading my notes and knowing all the intricate details, rather than re-doing questions I have partially memorized. However, for math/calculation intense subjects, I do think doing the MC is more helpful. One additional thing I would say is that Becker tends to emphasize the same topics over and over with its MC questions. That is great, but it is also why you need to review the book. Because the real exam will have a completely random variety of questions on topics that Becker did not emphasize.

Also, for BEC, I plan to have a standard format/layout in my head that I will use for the written portion. I think that will take away some of the stress of having to write.

    Good luck.

When I reviewed for BEC, I did 3 set of 24 questions on each chapter and then did 3 sets of 24 on Ch 1&2, 3&4, 5&6 and then did 3 sets of 24 on all chapters. I kept track of my scores especially on the ones with more than one chapters. I then looked to see where I was struggling most and did 3 sets of 24 questions on those chapter. Then I did the first final exam.

Then I went thru and almost exclusively Ninja questions and just did the occasional practice test of 24 questions in Becker just for a change of pace. I did sets of new questions in Ninja for the most part do I could see as many questions possible. When I get a question wrong, I go thru the steps I needed to get the right calculation or read the explanation carefully. I do repeat questions in Becker, just to see if I really did learn how to do it correctly. Even when I know what the answer is on a repeated question, I make sure I work thru the problem and know why I'm doing the steps I am or I talk myself thru the explanation so I know why the answer is right.

I did the second final (I did really bad on that one – 65) and then went back and review what I struggled on. Then did more MC and read thru a few more WC. The night before the test I did a few MCQ (@120) then took it easy and tried not to stress to much. Good Luck!

Hello, everyone…I have a question. I just signed up for becker live classes which starts in December and wanted to find out from anyone who used the live course if it's just DVDs the tutors put in front of you at classes or they explain the material like a regular traditional in class tutor.

Any comments wld be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

@undeniabletwins2 I recently graduated college and started with the Becker live classes. I dropped the class after two sessions and switched to self-study. I was lost the whole time during class and in my opinion 8 hours straight of dull material is not an optimal way to learn. My best advice would be to give it a try and see if it works for you. If it does not work for you switch over to self-study ASAP get yourself the Ninja notes/Ninja audio (if economically feasible) and you’ll be set lol. Best of luck!

For my last 2 weeks (self-study full time), I reviewed 1 chapter a day.

I reviewed the notes I made for each chapter, re-did all the MCQs (but thinking back, I could've saved a lot of time by just going over the MCQs that I had difficulty with and skipping some questions that were similar), reviewed the SIMs, and did the final exams.

If there is still 1-2 days before my exam after doing that, I would just look over my notes one last time in case I need to reinforce some areas that I had trouble with.

    @undeniable

I did the Becker live course for my first section then switched to self study. All the instructor does is go over the lecture almost word for word from the software lecture.

A waste of time in my opinion, unless you want to ask specific questions about the material.

I often only did one week of review. For FAR, I just did progress tests over and over again while reading up on my weak areas. For AUD, BEC, and REG, I re-did all the MCQs an additional time and skimmed the book as I went. I never went back over the SIMs; I felt like it wasn't a very efficient use of my time.

I usually took the first practice test two or three days before the actual exam. I think I always took the second test the evening before the actual exam. I am a procrastinator.
