Becker/NINJA or just NINJA for REG retake

I was really surprised to find out I failed REG the first time I took it….NOTTT!!! I did not give myself enough time to review before sitting for the exam and bombed it. I have spent the last week finishing multiple choice questions to qualify for the Becker Promise and Thursday I am starting my program. Here are the programs I have to choose from:

    1) Becker – Re-write the notes I got from a friend before working all of the multiple choice questions for each section and writing down information in a notebook for each question I get wrong, then re-working those questions again. After completing that, I was going to re-write the Ninja notes and work all of the Wiley MC questions. Then work all of the Wiley sims. I also got the Ninja Audio that I listen to on my commute to work. (My firm paid for Becker which is why I was able to afford all of this)

    2) Re-write the Ninja notes and listen the the Ninja Audio with the re-written notes. Then work all of the Wiley MC questions. Then work all of the Wiley sims.

I have until March ’14 to finish REG and FAR so I am bearing down on REG this window to make sure I get it done. If I feel prepared and have time to take FAR at the end of May, so be it.

Any thoughts here? Should I rework all the Becker questions? Thanks.

You have plenty of time to retake REG. So really invest the time. I think you'll survive with just Becker. Throw your friend's notes in the trash. Go through all 8 chapters in the Becker book yourself and write your own notes. Do two chapters each week(if you work). Then re-do every single MC. Then do every SIM. After that, redo 50% MCs of each section of each chapter. Then do progress tests consisting of 200MC every day leading up the exam. Every other day you should be reviewing your handwritten notes. You do this, you'll pass. I actually felt that I bombed the REG and got a 86. There is a hypothetical “curve” with these exams. So just remember to stay calm, but hustle during the exam. Time is ahuge factor as I am sure you are aware. Good luck!

Should I go back through the book in the same order? I am more confident in the taxation areas than in the BLAW areas.

I think considering how much time you have left, you should go over everything. And remember even if you fail, you all that knowledge is still in your head. So dont get down on yourself. All this time you are about to invest will not be wasted. So why not just study everything now. Give the AICPA no reason to fail you. Good luck!

You should watch all of your videos again and take notes.

Work all of your MCQs and take notes.

Then – Re-write your notes to re-absorb the material.

Study the NINJA Notes during your downtime and read them several times heading into your exam.

As you study your final week…work sets of 20 MCQs starting with your weakest area first in study mode until you are hitting 70%-ish and then move to your next weakest area.

…again, all the while hitting the ninja notes – especially for business law since you don't really need to watch videos for business law…just ninja notes and MCQs.

    Hope that is helpful

I think I am going to go through the book and write my own notes and THEN watch the video lectures. Good or bad idea?

It's inefficient…that's what you (or perhaps your employer) paid $$$$ your review course for.

Yeah don't do notes before the lecture- in watching the lecture, you will understand things better and be able to expand your notes and write them in a way that makes sense to you rather than just parroting whatever the study material says

AUD: PASSED [81]; Expired, retaking August 23rd
BEC: PASSED [83]; Expired, retaking July 11th
    REG: PASSED [83]

@TripleNetAcct: If you're short on time: Look at your diagnostic report. Watch Becker videos and take notes for the sections you did poorly on. Then work through the 10 point combo twice. My order for the 10 point combo was 1) notes 2) flashcards 3) MCQs 4) sims. I did this on FAR and went from a 74 to an 88.

Should I (1) re-write my notes after each section or (2) go through all the material and mc questions…and then re-write all of them at once?

Just finished reworking R1-R4. Feeling much much better about it. Doing progress tests a couple times a week and scanning notes and working flashcards is helping to keep the material as fresh as possible.

Now, I had already gone through the material in the lectures but did not take my own notes (this was back in February). Should I now (1) write my own notes using what is highlighted in my Becker Book or (2) rewrite the Ninja Notes and use them from here on forward. I am leaning towards working through the Becker book since I haven't written my own notes for those sections yet.
