Best Simulations available for REG – Gleim, Yaeger, Ninja?

I’ve been looking at posts on this website for awhile for answers to my questions, but I couldn’t find a post specifically addressing this issue, so decided to finally make my own account.

I took REG last October and got a 65. I did comparable on MCQ’s and weaker on the SIMs (which were absolutely insane). The only material I’ve used to this point are the 4 Wiley Textbooks and the Wiley testbank. This has been enough to pass all the other sections, but I think the simulation in both the Wiley book & testbank are lacking.

What are your thoughts on the Simulations found in Gleim, Yaegar, and Ninja? Have you too used only the Wiley testbank, found it to not be sufficient, and then bought one of these other courses’ simulations and performed better on the simulations? Please let me know of your opinion. I want to purchase one to get additional simulation practice ahead of my exam scheduled for June 10. Also, are the Yaeger simulations just the material from Wiley’s testbank? I ask this because they use Wiley textbooks for their full review course and I don’t want to buy the same material (I e-mailed 2 representatives from Yaeger about this and they did not give a clear answer).

Looking forward to all help and advice!

I have only used Gleim and Ninja Sim. I don't like Gleim books and Mcq, but I have to say that their sim questions are comprehensive and will prepare you well for the CPA exam.

I have also heard that the best simulations and MC in the market for Reg come from Gleim. It seems that they did a great job designing the simulations for Regulation.

Vanessachy, what did you do differently to jump 26 points in Regulation? I need that many points just to hit 80 on my second try.

@Last Chance CPA I currently have Gleim as an additional test bank. I have already gone through all of Roger MCQs and doing pretty well, however, I'm getting nervous because I'm not sure if it'll be enough…I've been back and forth on this. Anyway, now that I'm done and have time (exam on May 19th) is it worth using Gleim's test bank and SIMS or should I just go with NINJA MCQs to supplement and use Gleim for the SIMS? I really don't mind paying the extra $40 at this point. Thanks!

@Martin, I didn't study much first time for REG, I skipped half of the book and just didn't have the motivation. Around Nov 2015, I asked myself do I really want to be a CPA? The answer is yes, then I decided to just put in my time and effort. Also, I decided to switch books, I cannot read Gleim books, so I bought older version Becker books, I was able to finish reading the books and make my own notes. I also purchased NInja MCQ. Plus, tax season, I work on tax return, it just helped the exam. I guess it is the combination of it.

Thanks for all of the advice! I was definitely leaning toward Gleim, definitely going to buy it now. Is there a cheaper option than there $249 “CPA Regulation Mega Test Bank?” All I really care about is additional SIMs, and that package includes a book and additional test prep (MCQs?). If you were able to purchase the SIMs for REG separately, send me that link, please.

@Vanessachy, what did you think about the REG SIMs from Ninja? Did you rely on Gleim much more heavily? Do you recommend that I spend the additional $47 to get access to Ninja's SIMs?

@MichaelP, I honestly think Ninja is enough, few sim questions on Gleim are really good, but MCQ sucks. With Ninja, you will get better MCQ and their Sim questions are well designed. When it comes down to sim, reading really helped me to go through sim, if you read well and make your own notes, Ninja is enough, especially it is much cheaper. The only reason that I use Gleim because I paid premium and don't want to waste it. If I would start this process over again, I would only buy NInja MCQ and older version Becker books.
